2.2 VLX with 4WD is 10 Lakhs ex-showroom in Chennai. I got this quote directly from Mahindra official and not from the Dealer so go back to the dealer and ask him to get the facts correct. If you don't need 4WD, the Scorpio SLX is your best bet. You get a much more superior engine than Bolero and ABS with rear coil spring suspension for about a lakh more.
My cousin wants to buy an SUV.Naturally I am biased towards to M&M, since my Xylo is working out for me real well. My cousin is not into heavily into off-roading.He cant decide whether he should buy a bolero or a scorpio.He is willing to look at other brands too.So could anyone suggest a good option?

You haven't mentioned his usage, his budget, his preferences for seating, a lot of things yet. Hence, at this point of time it is hard to suggest much but yes, as things stand, if he can afford it, the Scorpio 4 wheel drive is one capable vehicle that can go most places in good comfort and reliability.
The characteristics of Bolero and Scorpio are so very different; TD is the way out!
Unless a jeep fan, I wouldnt really suggest a Bolero. Even though it can take a lot of abuse (DI Turbo), and is cheaper to maintain).
If he cares about creature comforts and gizmos, Bolero is not for him.
But for reliability, i'd prefer a Bolero anyday.

@Finject - IMO, though Bolero & Scorp are called SUV, to me, both of them are different. The difference is the rough & luxury SUV; if the budget, tech spec & comforts are provided (which is also easy in this case), it becomes easy to select Scorp or the Bolero.
For too much off roading the Bolero is a better bet.The ground clearance of the Bolero is lesser than the 540DP - don't know whether that is still available.A soft-top 540DP would have been the best bet.They now sell the Major (soft-top)with the CJ4A body and a DI engine.I believe the 540DP is not available any more.
The Scorpio is OK for once in a while off roading but for such regular sessions the suspensions may conk off and the repair bills are too heavy.
The Bolero withstands a lot of abuse. as compared to the Scorpio.
Have travelled long distances on all these and even older ones with lots of off roading.
The CJ3B (LHD) 4X4 was the best jeep for off roading (never had a CJ3A so won't comment).
