Used 4x4 in dubai.

Hi,

I'm looking for a used 4x4 in Dubai. I want something like a jeep or a pathfinder( before 2005 models). Could anyone advise any other 4x4s in that price range and those that are capable enough? . i know about the ford escape but im not sure of its capabilities. i need to buy it within two months max.
Hope the Dubai guys on this forum could help also.

thanks,

Alder

Feel like buying the pathfinder..

I feel the like going for the pathfinder since its got a better engine then the jeep(wrangler). also its a little larger and more space. How capable is it off-road?
does it have any major problems?

sorry for a late reply to your question.

its better to go for a pathfinder rather than a wrangler, it will keep your running costs lower compared to wrangler.

but again, a wrangler is a better vehicle when it comes to offroad capabilities!

will this vehicle be your daily drive vehicle also?

lots of used car dealers in Dxb are sitting with lots of unsold stock of vehicles, so you better bargin hard!

I second that, the pathfinder is what you should get..try 4x4 motors on SZR. And as much as possible keep surfing on dubizzle.com for used cars you'll definitely come across one.

@ parm & nitroxx: thanks for your replies. yes, it will be my daily drive.

i was also worried about the space in the wrangler. i guess only four fit comfortably and there wont be any space remaining for camping stuff. is there other 4x4 that's similar to the pathfinder? if not are there any known problems to the pathfinder or is that what i should get?

also if could you tell me whats a good price for it? and whats the max i should pay? ill be buying it in the beginning of november. by that time ill check the prices out on dubizzle.com, 4x4 motors and Awir? Awir is the used car place right?

Thanks for your help.

Contact Shibu aka JeepCaptain on this forum. He is your man for 4x4 purchases in Dubai.

AVOID Aweer used car complex, trust me on this!

that place is good for locals only, and i would advice expats (indians) to stay away from that place, unless you buy from Frenchise Dealerships (Arabian automobiles, Automall etc)!

Nissan patrol is very thirsty on fuel, avoid it!

stick to last gen pathfinder or go for a used Fortuner. lots of expats have gone back (ran away) from Dxb, so you might get good deals with these vehicles.

Wrangler should be your 2nd vehicle if you already have a family car with you. otherwise its a big NO NO from my side!

Pathfinder and Fortuner are easy to maintaince and run.

dont buy a vehicle with high mileage which are often sold cheap.
avoid vehicles with more then 1 previous owner!
try to find a vehicle with atleast 6-12 months of dealer warranty left on it!
get the vehicle inspected at authorised dealership.
dont by non-GCC spec vehicle.
dont buy vehicle which is non-uae.
dont buy american/jap/european imports.

safe driving.

even i was worried about the running cost of the wrangler.

check out Al Rostamani for the new pathfinder and ask for a guy named Sreedhar Jagadeesan. tell him my name and he will help you out with the new car pricing. in the long run you will find out that a new car is better value for money.
almost all of the used cars that come to the market all have a history of abuse.
go to the sands to see how the nitwit arabs throw those vehicles around! also if a vehicle has had an accident history(which you can find from the police station by quoting the vehicle regn.and chassis no.) you can safely assume that the car is going to give you a lot of tyre and suspension related expenses.

Re: Used 4x4 in dubai.

Good deal alder,
it might sound silly to ask, since the question is typical.. is the Cheve avalanche really a fuel guzzler as most say?
