Innova is more car like to drive than Xylo which has body roll higher than Innova. Xylo earlier had some issue of grabby brakes also ( and a thread was started by the same by someone IIRC ) and handling isn't the best.

Innova is more rounded product and is proven in India. I have seen many Innova with higher than 2 lakh kms. still going strong.

Coming back to cars, I would rate SX4 above G3HC for handling and ride also. City is good for city only, but on highway, SX4 is better and is more stable at high speeds than City. For city speeds, SX4 seems a bit unsettled than City, correct, but at high speeds the stakes are changed.
Please note that I am also including high speed stability here.
The thread starter has also mentioned about scrapping being an issue. SX4 GC is very good and is helpful a lot of times.

I have driven both the cars hence stating this. The best bet here is to let the thread starter to a TD of all the cars mentioned and let him decide.

Do a TD of Innova and Xylo if you are not interested in sedans. This will give you a clear idea about both the vehicles.

Settled then, because these modern day SUVs like the Scorp and the Safari (in your range) handle reasonably well and can take you pretty much everywhere. Also, you will get the additional advantage of cheap spares and diesel economy with a number of spare seats if required and the auto wallahs staying away from you on Bangalore roads.:D

On a personal note, I prefer to have an SUV instead of an MUV, just for the ego boost it gives me. "Sports" make me feel young you know:uncontrol
Seriously though, the Scorpio SLE with ABS would be my vehicle of choice here.

Hey all,

I just did a test drive of both Innova and Xylo. Here's how it went.

Innova :- Called up the sales rep from Nandi toyota (Sajit) and asked for the test drive. He was all the way willing and got the innova to my place. I also took my dad in the captain seat, which I feel you would be using it pretty often. I drove it for about 10 mins. Like I said, I had absolutely no complaints about it and just wanted to check the feedback of my dad. The car was crispy smooth, no issues with the gear shift, it felt planted on the road, suspension and handling as well. Overall, I liked it very much.
The only thing is there is only 20K on offer and some goodies include the mudflaps etc etc. So I frankly told the sales guy to work out something and then get back to me. That's the only thing I could do right now. Asked my dad about how he felt. His face told me everything, but still wanted to hear and he was absolutely happy about the car.

Xylo :- Balachander from Sireesh auto came up next. He took not time to oblige for the test drive. He got the E8 version of the Xylo without ABS and Airbags though. I took my dad again and went for a drive. I must say the engine is pretty responsive and the feel also pretty good. The Gear changes was not all that smooth as Innova though, but this must have been pretty much used up Xylo, with many people trying out. Otherwise the handling of the vehicle was pretty good at slow speed. One good thing was, it was able to handle speeds of 25km at 3rd gear pretty easily. But I wanted to check the body roll very badly. I tried overtaking some trucks at 60-70 speeds and getting back to left lane and I must say, I did not feel all that confident. There was some body roll. But otherwise, the whole package is a good VFM. Feedback of my dad for this also was OK. Though I did not find that smile when being seated in an Innova.

It's pretty clear now that I'm more or less inclined towards the GX version of Innova. I wouldn't want to rue the next 4 years thinking about the it, but will wait if some offers come by. I'm sure there should be some in March though, keeping fingers crossed. Having said that, Xylo is also a very good vehicle, but sometimes personal choices differ.

Sorry to butt in, but with current recall issues with Toyota, would'nt it be a risk on the resale factor? Since resale value is one important criteria for you, hence the opinion. Otherwise Innova is indeed a tried/tested vehicle..but then even Prius was supposed to be. I am sure Toyota will bounce back and regain the confidence, but with all sorts of conspiracy theories, just thought will let you know. While Indian operations might not be affected, but if issues were kept hidden from US authorities, god only know what they do here in our country!

I was also a proud owner of a Honda City ZX, which I'd sold a couple of months ago and now in the move for a new car.

I would suggest you to seriously consider the i20 diesel version as well. The website mentions the availability for manual as well as automatic transmission!

From the team-bhp feedback, it does seem to be a good vehicle!

As for the Innova GX, how do you find the performance of the brakes? I was considering the GX but the VX has ABS so I feel the construction could be superior, apart from the ABS feature itself. Please suggest.

Just went through your post reg back to confusion. Btw, we have met near Ecospace, with one of my friend who was a potential buyer of your car that time, I hope 4 months back. This is prasoon from AOL, hope u rem.

I believe, I have heard that Corolla diesel is on the line up, to launch. Why dont you wait till that. I know as a pure honda freak, perspective that you have lined up Innova, which is the other best option in any way. Only thing is you need another small car, which is kind of escort car for all those who live in city or any place and owns this larger than image Innova. You have an alto right, perfect.

My uncle is using Xylo, yeah I too drove it. It really feels like you are driving a big vehicle. Still that boat feeling not out of way from scorpio to Xylo. Its plastics are cheap, and is driving comfort. Yeah you get it for mouth watering price, but not worth it I say. But innova on the other hand gives you all pleasure of space, comfort, safety with the feeling of driving a sedan. This is just because I have driven both on long journeys. No body roll, just the feel of seated on cushion and it really pampers us.

And reg Linea, I am never a fan of Tata, Fiat and Hyundai. In my mind I always have good feeling with Toyota, Honda and Maruti. If its cars and best technology..its japanese maan! I dont think if your resale plans are just after 4 years, defenitely dont go for Fiat or Mahindra. Sure poor resale values in that four year period. Better resale values you can always expect for Toyota's, Honda's and Maruti's.

So I would suggest wait for Corolla Diesel or Innova or why not ANHC. I am always a fan of Honda. Friend recenlty took a biege ANHC.

so how much did u sell the city for. I had been long time looking for well maintained Type II Old Honda City -(2000-03)models. If any just pm or mail me.

Haa..at home in kerala we are also on the verge to upgrade our Sumo victa to Toyota Innova. Just waiting for BS IV to come up and I am not sure if they plans to launch Avanza, the new MPV from Innova soon.
