7 Seater MPV

Primary Reason:

Parents decided to join with us in a year time. so need a bigger vehicle which accommodate 6 persons very comfortably.
Now eligible for a New Car from the company

Well i'm now eligible to get a new car from the company and funding from the company is 6.5 lac. Insurance and Road Tax are going to be taken care by company.

I can't keep 2 cars at a time so have to sell my existing i20 if i decides to go for a comfortable 7 seater. At present i can only see the INNOVA or i'm missing something .

My budget will be 6.5 lac+ the price i'm getting for i20 and nothing more.

Like to get a reliable, comfortable (Front/Middle/Rear row), niggle free product.

I have enough time and wanted to know is there will be more MPV's heading to India on this period.

Check out Xylo, it has the best seats in the segment and also packed with essential features and safety equipment.

We hired Xylo once to a trip to kollur mookambika from Bangalore and never wanted to sit in it again as we were not at all comfortable (Stability).

Above 80 this vehicles given us some scary moments on that trip.

My parents prefers INNOVA but i'm looking for more (upcoming) options in this segment with the given budget.

The only car that comes to my mind is an Innova.

It is very much tried & tested product.

Seating six persons comfortably is quite a requirement. If I am not wrong, even Innova last row seats are slightly uncomfortable. But your only other options in this price bracket are Xylo and Taverra. A full fledged comfortable 6/7 seater is the realm of large SUV and micro buses! You can view comparison between Taverra with other vehicles here. Chevrolet India

There is no option other than Innova, if your are objective based
The question here is which model of Innova
If kids are there or will enter the family soon then bench sits serves well for a nap (when stationary or something like a day long shopping tour in the city)
else the model with bucket seats are the most comfortable

also, the top model will give you the ABS, Airbag and the alloys which you should definately go for

the Indian market does not have an option for Innova yet, barring Tata Aria which is round the corner and yet needs to be evaluated by the masses

Infractions: 0/2 (8)

Innova - Choice No 1 - proven reliability. lovely to drive. extremely comfy and a great option. Trouble is how to find a good used one. Brand new might be a bit out of reach given the budget you've indicated.
Xylo - Choice No 2 - overall very good vehicle in terms of VFM. Not as refined or as upmarket as the Innova but this will be the next best choice.

Frankly given the fact that parents and their comfort is involved dont even bother with any other choices that you may see before you.

not considering Xylo. What about the engine used in Tavera now i.e for BS4. Read about this in the forum. Also not liking it either.

Who are these "6" people? Do they include kids? If so, my suggestions are : Innova / Xylo / Sumo Grande (in that order). Another reason the Innova is no. 1 is, your current daily drive is the i20. None of the homegrown UVs will match the quality / reliability you take for granted. Of course, the Xylo and the Sumo Grande have the best 3rd row of seats though.

How soon do you need it?

If you can wait, then there's the Tata Venture as well. However, i don't have details on pricing or how the drive is. Looks wise she's good and third row is great as well.

I agree with Innova like everyone else here too as the first choice. Another option though is Safari, what with all the price cuts and discounts currently being offered. The seats in Safari is unbeatable for comfort and will make you forgive all the other shortcomings in terms of interior fit and finish. If Innova, go in for the 7 seat option with captain seats in the middle row.

Go for the Innova with your eyes closed. The third row is not that bad, unless all of you are 6 footers. Also it is the most car like of the lot.

I find the Xylo too bumpy, the excessive vertical movement at the last row is very uncomfortable.

I was keenly following the thread below (on the Maruti RIII MPV), but do not know the launch dates (1st half of 2011 ??)

The Tata Venture is just around the corner, but I do not know if it will sit safe and squat at highway speeds of 100 +, if that's one of your main priorities

GTO,
I did a 100 km trip last year from Kolkata to Kharagpur in a Sumo Grande 3rd Row bench as I was going to my alma mater for some panel discussion and the student escort wanted to make me feel "comfortable". I am not the complaining type but half way through I ended up forcing the escort on the 3rd row.

Also did a few hill road trips around Manali area in the 3rd Row of Innova (~100kms on slightly poor / broken roads).

The Sumo grande has better leg space but the suspension backlash on bumps / speed bumps is severe and I developed a backache on the Golder Quadrilateral ride. Also this particular model has plastic bits and pieces coming loose and hanging about - not a pretty sight in the claustrophobic third row.

The Innova has lesser space - still manageable if the person in the second row grants a few centimeters of legroom out of the half a meter he has to you by sliding forward his seat. But the suspension backlash is not so severe and the seat construction feels more comfortable with no hanging bits about in general.

My choice for the 3rd seat - Innova. (I am 181 cms tall)

PS : I own an Innova so obviously a bit biased but the vehicle is truly *all you desire* for my family.
