Udupi/Manipal BHPian Meet goes wild!

KMC seems to be producing more bhpians than MIT!

or I suppose the engineer bhpians have left Manipal while the docs are still tethered!

There was one guy from MIT who had put up a Manza ownership thread. Dont remember his handle.

Samurai i shifted less than a month ago!!that is why i could not inform.anyway as my wife is still tethered to k.m.c. i will be coming to manipal frequently!

alright a late lunch is fine with me but i suggest you go ahead with the lunch!i will join you guys immediately after desserts!!

Another old Maipalite (MIT) is CrackedHead, who is now in Bangalore, and is most likely in Brazil at the moment.

nice ! so there is a meet at manipal. but yeah i am going to miss it since i got some work on sunday and need to travel back to Bangalore same day :(

That is simple. Car owning BHPians are generally working adults. Manipal employs lot of doctors, but doesn't have jobs for Engineers.

That means you are in Manipal on Weekends I suppose.

Thanks for remembering. Yes - I was at MIT from 2001-2005, I did visit Manipal just last month for a weekend getaway. Won't be able to make it as I have now relocated to Jamshedpur for a year.

Have a great team-bhp meet - I'm missing Manipal weather already

Ok, so we are back to only Udupi/Manipal BHPians. The food (home made quality) will be catered, so I hope nobody will drop out at the last moment.

The latest attendee list has been updated in the first post.

The time and venue will be PMed to all the participants by tomorrow. If any additional BHPians or guests are there, please let me know by tomorrow 6PM so that I can inform the caterer.

Udupi/Manipal BHPian Meet goes wild!-p6050805.jpg

The meeting was very successful. We had long lunch followed by theory class at 3:30PM. The theory covered:

1) How differential works. (Video)
2) How 4WD is different than 2WD. (white board)
3) Difference between part-time, Fulltime and realtime 4WD.
4) How Clutch works.
5) Free wheeling hubs, and various diff locks.

After 1.5 hours of theory, we went on to the field for some practicals at 5PM. Sachin on the Gypsy and I on the CJ340 took people on the trail and showed how it all works in real. The practicals concluded at 6PM and carfreak moved on.

Everybody else hung around until 7PM and nobody wanted the meeting to end.

We kept talking about everything while many times rain came and went. But I had some work to do, so we finally bid farewell.

Thanks Samurai for the excellent tutorial and the practical. Looks like i'm getting hooked onto the 4X4 forum now, theres so much to learn!
Have one video i took when you were coming out of that incline. Will post it as soon as possible.

A big thanks to samurai , for hosting the meet.

A lovely lunch followed by a very informative theory class on the mechanics of a car differential and the basics of off roading ( imagine teaching automotive mechanics to a bunch of doctors).

Then a entertaining demo of off roading where all the theory was literally put to the the test. Awesome fun and cant wait for the next one.

Will upload some of the pics and videos later.
