Re: Kaas and Bamnoli: Sep 2011 Team-BHP Meet

According to today's newspaper, due to abnormal weather condition, blooming of flowers affected adversely this year.
Experts are predicting that if unfavorable weather condition continues in Sept also, there will be no/less bloom at Kaas.

Lets hope that weather conditions become favorable in Sept.

Re: Kaas and Bamnoli: Sep 2011 Team-BHP Meet

Posting some quick notes from mobile. Travelogue coming soon with detailed pics. Superb day out at kaas platue, just back from kaas. The blooming does seem to be affected, rains still lashing frequently and little of sun visible. Still lot of white, yellow, violet, blue colors becoming visible. Cautious driving recommended due to rains and the few bad stretches of road about 4-5kms at start and in middle of ghat. Inspite of all oddities and non-blooming of flora fully, the experience is awesome and especially in these gusty winds and rains, something to cherish for long time.

And yes, the parking on platue is strict with all forest guards deployed at many points but will tell you later how to get over it. Parking is too far.

Thanks for the update. I was planning to come to kaas next week. But I was about the call off the trip as there was news about heavy rains and adversely affected flower blooming. Your photo updates will help me deciding whether to go on with the trip or not. Please do put up the pics soon..

Re: Kaas and Bamnoli: Sep 2011 Team-BHP Meet

Just back from kaas, mahabaleshwar. Uploading teaser pcs. Rest of them will come later Flowers were out and the tea guy told us at bomnali that in 15 days they would be blooming. As for the rains, its raining pretty heavily there. Thursday evening 4PM to Sunday morning 7 AM it was raining heavily continuously.

Kaas pics are from the place 4 kms before the actual flower plateau, Couldnt get out at the actual plateasu because of the heavy rains. But could see (through almost zero visibility) shades of purple flowers as well.

First one is a HDR (where you combine three different images at different exposure levels) Tried to keep it as subtle as possible as I hate overly edited pics. But I guess people can still notice it

Re: Kaas and Bamnoli: Sep 2011 Team-BHP Meet

Sorry guys, been totally jammed in work. Will post the travelogue and resized pics tonight so you can take a call. Been on the main platue and they have just started blooming but will take some time to be fully blooming.

@vivek_vt, Nice pics. Looks quite an editing gone into it. The ones I took couldn't be too bright due to the cloud and fog but are good enough to notice. The view seems to be from near the point where the dams are visible on both the sides where the wild yellows have blooming on both sides of the drive.

Any pointers to park in the plateau will be very helpful.

Since I am visiting this place for the first time, tips on hidden or not so obvious view points will be great.
