22 Bulleteers (Wanderers) + 1 Team BHPian – A Ride to Bidar
A year completed being associated with Team – BHP, my 6th meet and maiden meet with the WANDERERS. It was pure bliss to be part of so many thumping bullets and is an experience to be had and is rather difficult to put it down in words; Simply Awesome! Since the original Cars+Bullets meet was cancelled due to low attendance from other BHPians, I was the only Team-BHP’ian other than Mobike008 who was on his Maroon Marauder (MM) and I was driving my Maruti Ritz following the thumping bullets.
I was heading for the meet directly from work so was a little late to reach the assembly point which was at Lovely Punjabi Hotel opposite to ICRISAT at 06:30am. We had a cup of chaai and with a couple of words exchanged with all and the MOD of Wanderers (Mr. Lalit Jain) instructed on how to group ride while being safe and a few signals specific to WANDERERS were explained before we embarked on the highway. Not to mention apart from my car there was another WANDERER who came in his car so 2 cars were following the Bullets, We were instructed to switch ON the headlights and drive on the left side at a steady speed with cars at end of the convoy for support/picture/video shooting reasons.
All the bulleteers were ready to ride with full gear and lovely helmets. Mobike008’s helmet (Chrome with Got BHP? Sticker) and an LS2 helmet were standing out from the crowd as one of the best helmets I have ever seen. Was amazed to see the old models being maintained in such pristine conditions and still THUMP well. Whenever we stop for a short break, I noticed a few of them took out the cloth and started wiping their bullets to keep it clean and free of dust, I was happy to see such care taken by these guys for their rides! Wish I had an RE too seeing the liveliness in each member. The MM and a Desert Storm were the show stoppers where one had LED lights in his headlamp cluster connected to the parking lamp switch which was a nice and simple touch to the headlamp and apparently was a DIY affair
At 07:00am we began our journey to Bidar with 15 bullets and 2 cars. After riding for an hour, we stopped at the roadside for a photo shoot and small break where all started to discuss about the bikes they bought and how was their life with it. Future ride plans were also being chalked out during this break as the Wanderers would be riding to Goa during 3rd week of November and Shillong in January end for RM (Rider Mania), 2013.
We started our ride to Bidar from here where the next stopping point was Zaheerabad at Amrik Singh da Dhaba where we would be joined by Bulleteers from Bidar (Punjab Puttars). Reached this place at 09:00 am as the roads were in bad condition and being a single lane highway overtaking was difficult due to lot of heavy traffic plying on this stretch.
I was getting bored as I was not able to put the car in 5th gear since the speed was not enough
. At 09:00 am we reached the dhaba and ordered for the breakfast for all and sat down talking and chatting. We all were given ‘Declarations’ to be signed as the Wanderers would not be responsible or held responsible for any problem occurring during the ride
(this shows how serious they are about group riding and member safety – thumbs up guys for this). After signing we sat down for breakfast which was Aloo paratha and raitha and after that special chaai. Aloo paratha butter marke (Aloo Paratha with loads of butter) was too heavy having me skip lunch and have little dinner. I relished the taste and gulped down three of them.
After the breakfast and chaai, a small garland ceremony was initiated by Punjab Puttars to welcome the WANDERERS to Bidar.
From here we rode down to Bidar where we would stop at the Gurudwara (Guru Nanak Jhira). The Gurudwara is such a peaceful place to be and looks fantastic where we learned a little about Guru Nanak and his disciples. A map of the route showing the travel of Guru Nanak Ji was laminated and kept in the main hall. We saw the Amrit Kund which the holy water spring that flows always in the same quantity whole of the year. After seeing this we went to their langar house which I relished as much as the aloo paratha and I don’t mind coming everyday for langar. After this we all were given their orange colored sacred cloth and Prasad with a photo session too. The Fort was our next destination and since we were running out time the Temple was not visited as most of us had to be in the city by 17:00. At the fort we had a nice photo session, visits to the Museum and Rangeen Mahal. As the clock was ticking away we all finally decided to disperse and head back to the city as the traffic also would be at its peak.
On the whole it was a very nice and refreshing Meet where I thank Lalit Ji for welcoming me into their group even though I don’t have an RE and to Mobike008 for introducing me to the group. Looking forward for many such meets and happy times.
P.S: Bomi Patel (Bomi Da) was the most inspiring in the group. I am guessing he must be atleast 60yrs old and was riding his bullet better than many youngsters was brimming with excitement and was very active throughout the ride. Truly inspirational stuff
Thank you for reading guys,
Pictures being uploaded in the next post.
