Awesome pictures Nikhil. So my idea of stopping in front of the rocks at ORR resulted in some drool worthy pictures of the BULLS in their natural habitat.

Guys, as discussed offline. Let's lock Feb 5th for this drive meet. Plan is to drive for about 140kms one-way MAXIMUM. Pit stop for a nice lunch in a shaded open area if its a dhaba or a decent restaurant.

I was suggesting Warangal for the awesome food at City Grand but, many are against this idea. So I throw the doors open for inputs/suggestions so we finalize the destination by this Friday.

I would suggest we drive down to suryapet(nh9) and have lunch at hotel 7.(its like a food court with multiple options (including subway)

We can start at Gachibowli (ORR)and drive all the way to the nh9 exit(ramoji film city) of ORR.

Rest would be a little taxing as 4-laning is going on nh9.

In all i guess its about 140km one way with about 80km of ORR and rest of nh9.(good,bad&ugly)

p.s:- come to think of it ,on the way back we can stop at this stretch on the ORR which is like en route of the landing strip of shamshabad airport ,click pictures there rang de basanti style (plane flying overhead) and maybe head out to the go kart area at the airport to do a quick 7 lap or something .(me thinks this way sunday well spent)

Either ways i am in and game for whichever place junta decides(warangal/nsagar/bidar)

To drive some distance outside Hyderabad these are some of the options:
1- NH9 as per Rajesh's suggestion
2- Medchal road towards Kamareddy etc
3- mumbai highway towards Zaheerabad etc
4- towards Anantagiri Hills/Vikarabad
5- towards Warangal
6- towards Kurnool
7- towards Srisailam
8- towards Nagarjunsagar

(please add any routes I have missed)

Pick a route that has a restaurant or dhaba with some great food. Can anyone recommend eating joints in any of these routes? Local cuisine preferably.

Edit: just remembered what Ravi (norulez) said about that biryani joint on the road to warangal. Or that village on the route to Adilabad known for chicken curry. What say peeps?

We went there once and enjoyed the ambience and food.

I was there on 26th January. It is 4 Seasons Green xxx restaurant (dont remember the xxx part, though it was my third visit).

He serves good rotis and anda burji, but never tried NV stuff there. The only issue with that place is that not more than 4 or 5 can sit under a umbrella-shaped kiosk, and finding a table to accommodate a dozen guys may not be possible.

Edit: But that place has a well-maintained swimming pool also, and charges are reasonable.

This is only option,where i can join the drive,so that I can rush back to the city for my son's annual day at 4pm in DPS,Gachibowli.

Not sure whether I will be able to make it. 4th is my wedding anniversary and I will be out late that evening, waking up early on 5th morning and going for a drive might not be possible.

Any specific reason for not going to Warangal? It meets all the parameters of a drive - 140 kms one way, reasonable road, good place to eat.
