The meet would be fantastic if held in forests. However, I reckon that almost all resorts/ lodges in the Jungles would be booked for the Republic day weekend. We could get bookings if we could push the dates one or two weekends ahead.
Below are the places that I suggest :
1. K.Gudi (one of the ranges in BR HIlls)
2. Masinagudi (would be nice except that it would be a costly affair for Lodging)
3. Dubbare / Barapole (Many sastha lodges around)
4. Tadiyendamol (A 4 hour trek to the highest peak in Coorg district)

Well, I do not have much experience of nearby jungles as I have never been stayed there. That is why I floated just an idea.

Masinagudi is a good place to go, are we planning to do a weekend only (Sat + Sunday) and no extra day or planning a 3day affair.

On pricing, when we went to Masinagudi we stayed at Casa Deep Woods (Weekend Getaway | Holiday Weekends | Holiday In Ooty | Zest weekends), place was decent, cost somewhere close to 3k per night (if i remember it correctly).

Was this all inclusive for 3k? (accommodation and all meals). Asking since 3k sounds a bit on the higher side for one person per night.

Its per night and a family can stay (Two adults and small child). The Casa Deep Woods email reads (Dated 12 Jan 2010). Just checked their web site now the rack rates are ~4k per night per room.

Off late some places I've called have quoted per person per night rates and thats probably because we mentioned we're bikers riding down.

Masingudi can be a good option.
I stayed at Bamboo banks with a tariff of 2800 per night per cottage (for 2 adults).. If any extra u can get a bed. Also the cottages are pretty spacious..

Isnt Masinagudi a common spot where many have already been?
Lets go for some new spot be it jungle/water spot.

I vote for BR hills but the only close by accommodation who can organise a safari are the jungle lodges and resorts (JLR) guys who are a little on the expensive side

3300-3850 per person per night on twin sharing basis.

I had a nice little adventure last time around, when a couple of elephants chased us and had us blocked off on a dead end road inside the jungle till late night A few pics from that trip last April.

Nice clicks. Feels great to see so much greenery and nature around. I'm game wherever as long as there is safe parking and good roads since i plan to come by bike.

Sorry for late reply guys was too tied up in office. If jungle is the call of the hour, then what about Bhadra wildlife sanctury plus Chikmaglur or Shakleshpur for a change?
And please try search place within a budget of 1500-2000 per head to comfort all.

Many bhpians are booked for the bangalore annual off roading 2012 on 27/28 including me. Can you look at any alternate dates?
