Dont think so, unless they went bad in the last 3-4 months. My last trip that was mid-year, and I found the roads after Hassan to be much better than even some sections of the highway.

+1. Just did the entire stretch to Chickmagalur and back over the weekend on my ninja. On the patchy roads i could easily manage to keep speeds at 80 and cruised at triple digits all through the good stretch.

I saw Munnar somewhere in the discussion. I just went there in November by car and it is impossible for a saturday morning - sunday evening kind of trip. It takes a good 10-11 hours to reach the place (490km) due to bad roads in the ghats, which means the day itself is over. Ruled out.

Hey this is nice. The dates work and dont work at the same time . A bunch of us (8 guys actually) from work are planning a trip to Chikmagaluru on Feb 18-19.

I would have loved to be a part of the Team BHP meet considering it will be my first one.

An offbeat question - Most of the suggestions here seem to point to coffee estate homestays. Having visited many of them in that western ghats belt myself, I have observed that they usually have 3-4 cottages at the max. Going by the scale of participation in this meet, we will need a minimum of 13-14 rooms/cottages, which they may not be able to provide. Any plans to counter this problem, apart from going to a conventional lodge in the town?

P.S - Is anyone planning to bring his bike? If so, I might bring the T-Bird instead of the T-Jet, since I am anyway coming solo, might considering riding.
