Mumbai Meet - 1st May

Dear Friends,

1st May is a Tuesday and is a compulsory holiday for all. What say to a meet on this day?

Being a Tuesday not everyone may be able to get the Monday off, and the roads should also be fairly empty, so we don't have to face traffic jams, which could mean a more relaxed meet.

Venue to be decided by poll, so please suggest a few options.

Also please confirm your availability too!

Re: Mumbai Meet - 1st May

How do these meets always end up clashing with our German car drives.

Re: Mumbai Meet - 1st May

I'm all in but all depends on the venue and the type of meet, drive + meet much preferred. Thanks for taking the initiative honeybee.

Being the month of May it will certainly be hot, how about cooling somewhere around a dam. As earlier planned meet Bhandardhara Dam can be a option?

And I thought Mumbai bhpians don't meet. Secret German meets, can my VW qualify too. Where are you guys planning for the drive, might as well become an option for us too?

Great men think alike, perhaps?

Yes, that's an option, and that's an option too.

However I think the chances of the Germans allowing the others to join in may be quite remote. First, not all cars will be able to keep up with theirs, and second, it no longer will be a German group. But if you guys are willing, we would love to know and join if we can.

So one destination option is Bhandardara dam.
Another (secret) destination is where the German group is planning to visit.
Any other suggestions?

Is it a meet or a drive? If it's in and around bombay, i'm in as well.

Well our schedule is tentative, but we are driving upto Silvasa or so.

We can't not allow people to come with us. Its your choice. But seeing how most of you guys were against driving and just wanted to eat lunch last time, I don't see many people coming with us. Though whoever wants to is free to join

Yep, you had made that amply clear last time. My only worry is that if I were to join you, I would have to turn around halfway through the route since I wouldn't be able to catch up with the Germans.

@Tejas, can you suggest a good place? My preference is still to meet and eat more than drive, because I want to meet new people and remember names of those I met last time.

Why every time, meet and eat? Don't get me wrong, we eat too but in a different city

Re: Mumbai Meet - 1st May

Well, I guess there are many members who haven't met each other, so I would push the meet part to the top of the TODO list. If there's a sizeable number, either breakfast or lunch can offer a couple of hours of solitude where the members can get to know each other.

Drives, IMO, are suited to groups already gelled.

Sounds like a good idea. I am in depending on where the meet would be.

I'm in too, but would prefer a drive. I would suggest a short drive to lonavala and then have breakfast too so as to get to know each other. Drive ka drive and meet ka meet.

Re: Mumbai Meet - 1st May

f2bp, Akshay - The last time our drive dates clashed there was a lot of friction on that thread because of so called 'groupism' or whatever.
What say we post about our drive on the German Dashes thread itself ?
Anyone who wants to accompany could get all info on that thread so there is no confusion and hence no argument. Hows that ?

If you create a separate thread and only stick to it for the German dashes, it would actually help create a rather closed group. I think sharing the group's plans on other threads will help clear any doubts about 'groupism'.

About a plan to drive to Lonavla, it could then become a Mumbai - Pune joint meet too, since Lonavla is located centrally. What say?

Re: Mumbai Meet - 1st May

The Deutsch Dash thread has already been made quite sometime back.
Anyway our NH8 plan has already been made quite sometime ago.
