Hello everyone,

I just got off a call with Ashishbhau, we were discussing about our (Team-BHP) annual drive and meet to the Valley of Flowers at Kaas Plateau near Satara. It brought back memories of our earlier drive and meets in 2010 and 2011. I am starting this thread to invite all of you for this drive and meet. This would be the third year that this drive and meet would be happening.

Kaas Plateau - Valley of flowers Kas Plateau Kas Lake Thoseghar Vasota Fort New Mahabaleshwar Bamnoli Sajjangad Satara Kaas Plateau Kaas Lake

The tentative dates for this year could be Tuesday 2nd October (national holiday), Sunday 7th October. The flower blooming season would start in the last week of September hence proposing the first week of October. Suggestions, queries, updates and CONFIRMATIONS would help us in having another Grand drive and meet.

I would be updating this thread with route details, accommodation details in the days to come.

This year the Kaas Plateau has been declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. There may be a booking required to visit the Valley of Flowers, the authorities are working on this and an update is expected soon.. As per reports only 2000 tourists per day would be allowed to visit the valley of flowers on prior booking. There would be forest guards and police to keep an eye on people trying to damage any flora or litter the place. There would be an area demarcated for parking. The entire area has already been fenced and Forest Guards are already posted at strategic locations. Currently a nominal entry fee is being charged for vehicles entering the Kaas plateau.

So let the Suggestions, queries, updates and CONFIRMATIONS flow in.

thanks for starting this thread.

As usual, i am in.
During last two visits, we went to Sajjangad side and Bamnoli also.
Last year, due to restrictions and rain, we could not enjoy the kaas plateau properly.
I suggest, this year we will visit Kaas only.
I think Saturday/Sunday in the first week of Oct will be good time.
What say guys?

Last year was my first Kaas meet and I enjoyed it to the fullest. I'm in this time too.

Ashish sirjee, why restrict only to Kaas ? Lets plan for Thosegar or the other Windmill farm ? What say ?

I will surely be joining this drive. The only problem is, my organization doesn't give any holiday for 2nd Oct. (yes it's true).
Only Saturday, Sunday are the options.
Last weekend i was the in Kaas for 1st time after reading reviews on team-bhp.
i really enjoyed the place except the flowers which were nowhere.
there are forest officers deployed and the area is fenced for flowers.
they were charging 10 rupees per person for the entry to Kaas.
with this ticket we could go inside that fenced area where few white color flowers were coming up but still very tiny to enjoy them.

Whatever may be the dates, I am in. But this time it is with family.

I have never been there - however both me and Megaladon (2012 Toyota Fortuner 4x4 MT) are eager to jump in. Thanks for this early intimation, can plan stuff accordingly.

This will be my second meet after Sunny da Dhaba !

I might miss this years trip to Kaas. Last year I'd spent one full day at Kaas just with my family and a friend (and his family). It was good. But was saddened to see the Netas going over the plateau on their SUVs and the Aam Aadmi having to wait for hours together for the bus because the netas vehicles caused a big jam.

Here's a pic from last year. Might skip it this year. And Oct 7th might be too late for Kaas. So plan something end of Sept. Best is to plan it on a week day to avoid crowd.
