Doctor saab, how can you get my handle so wrong? I resigned from MI6 long ago for a full-time duty of organizing team-bhp meets
Btw, Thanks for the compliment. Have been organizing meets from Dec-2006, so I guess it comes from experience
What a fabulous way to spend a lazy and hot sunday afternoon. This drive meet was one of the biggest in terms of turnout and also in terms of total car participation. Besides, being the first such drive meet for southerners (if iam not wrong) where two states met at a central location.
What was heartening to note was confirmed vs. actual attendees was a shockingly good 90% + which is a huge success compared to the previous turnouts
We assembled at 8:15am at the begining of RGIA ramp but, within a few minutes were made to scoot from there by the patrolling cops who descended on us seeing the large number of cars parked.
We decided to drive for about 5kms-8kms ahead and stopped on the highway stretch where we enjoyed a fantastic breakfast of Idli, Dhokla, Sandwiches and Eggs, thanks to all who so thoughtfully brought this for the hungry souls.
We chit-chatted for a while since there were plenty of newbies and many non-BHPians too. After the lovely breakfast, we embarked on the epic drive and decided our next stop would be a bio-cum-tea break at Munnawar Dhaba which was some 60kms away.
The convoy was lead by me, Zen91, Ram Alluri and Insearch for a long time with Shimshumara in his scorpio also not too far away with his spirited driving.
60kms came in pretty quickly and Shimashumara and Jayded shot away ahead as they were feeling too enthusiastic.
After a 10-15mins break for tea and photoshoot, we headed again and this is when the real driving started with me and Zen91 leading the pack and Insearch in his T-Jet pretty much keeping pace with us.
A special mention to Insearch and his T-Jet which were the most impressive during this drive. Smooth driving style and at same time pretty aggressive. Also, Ram Alluri in his Safari was driving as he had forgotten its a Safari...LOL, good stuff from him too.
We reached the venue at 11:10am and occupied the large basement parking with me given a special parking spot on the outside right at the entrance. Thank you DVR
We entered the cool environs of the restuarant which was dimly lit and AC running in full blow keeping us cool and nice from the hot weather outside. Bangalore guys got in around 12:30pm and we had a great time chilling together over some good food, car stuff and anecdotes of the drive experience.
Overall, the food was very good but, personally loved the Fried Fish and Kheema Biryani the most. A big thanks to Silverwood for all the foodie coordination. Great effort.
A beautiful afternoon ended just before 4pm after a short recital from ArcotSrinivas about some dialogues of the famous Hyderabadi Movie (Angrez). We all stepped out in the hot sun and spent a few minutes clicking some group pictures before waving bye to each other and embark on our respective destination
Big shout out to all the bangy boys for making it for this drive meet. If you guys liked the idea, we can always do it again in some months.
Mr.Ravi, I hope your BMW comes back to its true glory once again. Goodluck for that
Return drive wanted to be relaxing but, those inviting open stretches banish any thought of relax driving. Me, Zen 91, Naveen K.K, Gajadonga and Insearch were driving back together most of the way back with me slowing down to admire the rear of the beautiful Elantra.
Finally, me and Insearch left this team way behind and reached RGIA almost together. Weaved through the maze of traffic and reach home just a few mins after 6pm ; feeling fresh, rejevunated and charged up after this 450kms drive.
Overall a great sunday spent that included the right ingredients and thanks to all you participated. Pictures from my camera will come up either today or tomorrow evening.
