Hello sir
Manipal (Arun) would be happy to join, will come along with Dr Sundeep
We had a great Founder's Day Meet today. As people showed up one by one, we started with small talk, the meet involved 5 BHPians. Then we ordered Dominos Pizza online, we did it together since the laptop screen was projected on a huge screen. It was fun to watch the order getting updated on the big screen.
Once the Pizza got delivered, we called GTO (the founder) and wished him Happy Birthday.
Then we continued to talk about everything under the earth. At about 4PM, the rest of the Udupi offroaders showed up, they are not on the forum. Then we had video class on the working of the differential, then I took a theory class on the working of the 4WD, building on the concept of differential. Once everybody was clear about the concept, we took off to a newly created offroad trial, good enough for newbies.
Notice how we all have the same tyre.
Anybody who wanted to drive offroad had their chance. I will let them describe their experience by themselves.
Offroad Nirvana... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCk21eNOaMc Sachin's Bolero Camper climbs the hill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgV9CHHzFJ8 Ranjan with his Gypsy (formerly Sachin's [also known as unserviceable Gypsy once])

After the offroad trials, we had Harish giving a lesson on snake handling using videos on his phone. He is a well known King Cobra expert (just hobby), lot of Coorg offroaders know him.

It was a wonderful get together, enjoyed every minute. thanks to samurai & all other fellow bhpians & new friends. It began with an intro to 4 wheel drives by highly skilled & knowledgeable samurai, followed by practical exhibition of those skills.

Got home from the meet to see our landline wire cut by a truck. No internet to upload any of the videos I took :Frustrati
It was a fantastic meet for me! A very special thanks to Sachin(sashas) for allowing me to drive his Bolero camper, that too offroad!! I was thrilled to bits to go over those little hills. Finally he egged me to come down that almost 90degree descent which was simply an amazing feeling! I am sure it was the machine which did everything, but was a great confidence booster.
It was also great to know that we were having a meet on GTO's birthday and wish him.
It was nice time to know all the Udupi offroaders, Harish videos with the King Cobra and Pythons were
Thanks to Samurai for a Sunday well spent!
Big thanks to Samurai for setting up an amazing meet.
I don't think any meet can be as varied as this. It had everything from how to order a pizza online ( a first for all of us), how to handle a jeep off road, and even how to handle a snake if you chance to meet one while off road.
It started from the basic theory of off roading, and was followed by hands on practical demo with the masters themselves.
Got to appreciate both sachin and samurai for letting us noobs have a free hand on their beloved beasts and giving us the thrill and taste of what off roading is about. We drove down slopes am sure we will think twice about walking let alone driving.
And then to top it off we got a lesson on snakes of the western ghats and also how to tackle them by the master snake catcher Harish.
The Beasts ready for action
The training grounds
Are we really going to drive over that!!!
Well now we know the drivers are just superfluous.

Sounds like so much fun! Must time our Udupi visits so they coincide with such meets! :) When is the next one?
