Pics 27th Dec 2013:

Picked up Rohit and reached the regular place a tad after 6:30pm. A few minutes later Kiran joined in.

We were expecting Sid to join early and as if on on cue he appeared on a bicycle. We could almost hear the background music from "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar".

As usual, had loads of discussion. Moved to K3. Had some samosas, wada-pav and dhokla.
Hrishi, Akshay and Narendra joined in directly at K3.

That's Kiran

Wrapped up around 9:30pm and reached home around 10pm. During all the enthu discussions, missed 8 calls from home. Got a earful from wifey once I reached home. But that's OK. Meets are worth it.

Hello SDP,

That is why I am suggesting a family meet as soon as possible. The reason for this is to avoid the look & expression - You are going to meet your T-BHP friends again? Let

Thanks,

re: Fortnightly mini-meet : Mumbai BHPians

SDP has summed it up pretty much as always!

It was a great meet, my 2nd.

The only down side being the traffic on JVLR. 45 mins to reach WEH from JVLR on a 2-wheeler

Looking forward to many such meets.

re: Fortnightly mini-meet : Mumbai BHPians

My second mini-meet and it went as I'd pretty much expected. I started out a bit earlier this time since I'd ended up running late for the last meet and was at K3 around 7:30pm and I was expecting the gang to be there by then.

I was totally baffled when I couldn't find a single familiar face there. Speculating that the meet might have been cancelled and cursing myself for not checking the thread, I frantically called up Raghav. Turns out that the fella was on a road-trip to the north! Suggesting that I check out the usual parking spot for the meet, I headed that way and much to my relief, met the gang (actually Jignesh 'spotted' me!).

Met SDP again finally along with Siddharth, Gautam, Jigar, Dippy and Narendra. We had some snacks since some of us were really hungry and headed back to the parking spot.

Please excuse me for the quality of the pics guys. Lots of camera shake and my diverted attention is to blame.

We are meeting this Friday at the regular spot i.e Hiranandani School Lane in Powai at the regular time i.e. 7 PM, but we have a dinner plan after the meet so most of us might stay back for dinner somewhere around Powai.

Regards,
VVB

Thanks for the confirmation varun. I might not stay back for dinner this time for obvious reasons.

re: Fortnightly mini-meet : Mumbai BHPians

Pics and Report: Bicycle ride to Kanheri Caves (SGNP) with Mumbai BHPians

A drive/ride to Sanjay Gandhi National Park was proposed by carzone and RajBajwa quite some time back. There are quite a few recently acquired bicycles in the Powai-Mini-meet group and a plan for doing a longish ride together was also being discussed since last few days. The stars finally aligned on 4th Jan 2014 and we decided to go to Kanheri caves inside SGNP early morning on Saturday. Minimalist (Akshay), Sa_Kiran, Sid and me decided to ride all the way from our homes whereas Dodge_Viper(Kailash) and PlatzaTurbo (Narendra) decided to carry their bikes in their cars till SGNP gate. RajBajwa who stays nearby borrowed a friend's maxit to join us. enrohit and superbee thought of hiring a bike from SGNP gate. AdiShenoy and Arunshek were not riding, but decided to join to help us out.

D day. Got up at 5am and got ready by 5:30am. The whatsapp group was already buzzing with messages. Kiran had started from Ghodbunder road was taking that route to reach SGNP. I was taking the route through Powai, and had to meet Akshay and Sid at Powai and SEEPZ.

Winter time, sun rises well after 6:30am and I was a bit concerned about riding in dark for the first time. (I was more worried about dogs chasing me)
Had a sandwich and started from Mulund at 5:45am carrying 1.5 liter water and a few biscuit packs. First 6kms were on straight flat EEH and I covered it easily. The railover bridge at Kanjur and the Gandhinagar flyover immediately after tested my stamina. Started sweating profusely and panting. After getting down from the flyover, I was staring at another (relatively) steep climb to the IIT Gate and thats when I was spotted by AdiShenoy (and Arunshek) in his Estilo. I waved at Adi and told him to carry onwards, but he insisted on giving me company. That climb where I was struggling and slowed down to a snail's pace would have tested Aditya's patience as well. After the climb to the IIT gate, the ride onwards till Solitaire was easy. Kailash passed me in his i10 and somehow I missed it.

6:30am: After waiting for some 10 odd minutes, minimalist (Aksjay) joined us.
Fortnightly mini-meet : Mumbai BHPians-dsc_1806.jpg

Fortnightly mini-meet : Mumbai BHPians-dsc_1807.jpg

I dumped my backpack and jacket in Adi's car and rode much lighter. We decided to take the Aarey Colony route. Riding up to the Aarey entrance was a bit difficult, but this time I had my inspiration - Akshay - riding ahead of me.
Sid joined us on his Schnell after a couple of kilometers. The road is narrow and we rode in a single file rather than riding side by side. KD and Adi provided great cover for us. We regrouped at the other end of the Aarey Colony Road and took a breather. Met a couple of bikers who had caught the Decathalon bug recently. It was 7:15 and we started the final leg towards SGNP. We asked Adi to go ahead and reserve a couple of cycles at the SGNP gate. KD covered our back on WEH.

7:50AM: Reached SGNP. 27KMs done. My longest ride yet.
Rohit and his Duster had already reached and he was in queue waiting for a rental bicycle. Kiran had comfortably reached on his Rockrider. Rajwant had also made it by covering 4kms from Borivali West. Narendra was on his way. Adi had tried to reach superbee since early morning, but was not able to reach him.

Narendra reached in his Civic and we helped him get the bike out from the rear seat. Apparently it was first time that he had carried his bike in the car. In the mean time, Rohit got a basic Decathalon bike. Now we were all set. All food stuff and bags were transferred to Adi's car as that was the only car which was going all the way till Kanheri caves deep inside the National park.
