This happened all too quickly and we didnt get time to plan the drive or post it here in the group. Well, it wasn't a mega drive or meet, just 3 families who badly needed a break.

It was a 3D/2N outing at Varkala on Sept 11th, 12th and 13th. Started from Kadavanthara at around 8.15am and met deetjohn near the Aroor toll plaza. A quick "Hi" and we continued our drive to meet Rajoy (who was patiently waiting for us. We call that Post). 10 minutes later, we started our drive to Varkala. Our initial plan was to have breakfast from Hotel Araam, but missed it by a whisker. Not having the patience to turn back, we decided to have Hotel Brothers as our breakfast stop.

Spent close to 45 mins there and then decided to push off, the next stop being Varkala. The road was good all the way to the resort. Palm Tree Heritage was the resort that we had booked and we reached there by around 2pm. It’s just a few kms from the Varkala cliff. We checked in to our rooms and freshened up and then it was a mad dash to the restaurant since this resort is known for it’s excellent food and we weren’t disappointed. Since this resort has the luxury of having a beach couple of steps away, we decided to catch the waves. A small walk along the cliff that’s lined along the resort and then chit chat continued till dinner. All the major sea food specialties were ordered and it was simply mouth-watering. After the heavy meal, we all retired for the night.

We woke up the next day with the sight of local fishermen bringing in the catch. It was a sight that shouldn’t be missed especially for sea food lovers. Since our rooms were right on the edge, we could get a good view of the action and the sea. After breakfast, we decided to explore Varkala Cliff. The cliff is lined with shops, restaurants, resorts etc. We continued our walk along the cliff, doing some shopping and then decided to stop over for lunch. The lunch was pretty expensive considering the items and taste but wasn’t disappointing. Since it rained the day we reached, the resort staff couldn’t arrange the dinner on the beach. But we were lucky this time. A candle lit dinner on the beach and gentle breeze was a wonderful experience. Overall, it was an excellent break for us and wish we could have planned this here. But there’s always a next time.

We checked out from the resort at around 12pm and it was straight drive to Cochin stopping for lunch at Kayamkulam (Hotel Araam) and evening tea at Alleppey (Bake & More). Then it was time to part ways and we continued our drive back home.

Excellent snaps as always and a great report there Naveen! The place was breathtaking, the food was delicious and the drive was superb. Babu of Palm Tree is a very good host. Fabulous weekend.

Naveen - Photos have come out really well. Blue sky is adding contrast to the frames. Loved the Creta click. I missed the fun for sure.

Couple of months? I believe we can make it a mega meet.
