Changing my status to 'Confirmed' but with a slight twist - confirmed only for the meet and events in Kannur, not for the drive into and out of Kannur.
Kannur is my hometown and to get some time with family, will arrive a day earlier by bus and return perhaps a day later by bus. I would still be there piloting you all around Kannur from the time you arrive in town.

Do you think dirving an i10 (auto) from BLR-Kannur-BLR is viable?
I already did BLR-Virajpet-BLR (via Maldare). once in this during SEP'13 and it took well . Please let me know.

Another suggestion.... we have booked & confirmed 2 seperate rooms and incase there is somebody who does not get any accomodation, we are willing to accomodate them with us. Please be our guests. (Not too sure how this works with the resorts folks)

As such we and kids do not sleep until wee hours. So its just a nap for few hours.

Absolutely no issues driving an i10. I recently brought my friend's chevrolet spark from Kannur to Bangalore through the same route without any issues. Many of my friends drive altos, omnis routinely through this route.

I took the Periyapatna-sidhapura route on Friday. Except for the first 7-10kms from periyapatna, rest of the route was quite good.
Even they are manageable, with no belly scrapping.
There are a few big potholes at the start of the ghat section after the makkutta check post.

Came back to Bangalore last night. The Makkutta ghat section is patched up and there no potholes now except the one which is
near to the temple. Took the Siddapura - Periyapatna route. The last 13-14km is really bad but drivable in any cars.

Bangalore-Mandya-Mysore-H.D Kote (handpost junction)- Dammanakatte-Bavali

Good roads all the way till the forest entry at Dammanakatte. The forest stretch between Dammanakatte and ubur which is supposed to be
permanently closed is now open for traffic because of the road upgradation work going on in the alternate village route. The forest guards at
the checkpost hinted that the road will be open for another 15 days or so. There are some monstrous temporary speedbreakers on this stretch.
Most hatches and sedans would scrape their underbody at almost all the humps if at full load!
There is a stretch of aroud 5-6 km where there is no asphalt and is very very rough and dusty.
Beyond Ubur, the road Is excellent all the way till Mananthavady.
We spotted quite a few spotted deer, sambar deer, langurs, peacocks, and a herd of Gaur on the forest stretch.

The alternate road is getting completely relaid and once that is done, this (Mysore-HD kote-Bavali) would be the shortest and best route
to reach northern Wayanad.

Pitching in and providing you an update on the road condition as of yesterday afternoon.

Route a: Mysore-HDKote Handpost-Bavali-Mananthavadi. Splitting the update into parts

Mysore - HD Kote Hand post - Excellent roads, but watch out for cattle.

HD Kote Hand post to Damman Katte Checkpost - Excellent roads

Damman Katte Checkpost to Forest Checkpost - Motorable roads, mud roads but decent enough to drive at 40-50 kmph. This stretch should be asphalted in a month or two.

Forest Checkpost to Bavali - Good roads, but quite a bit of humps to slow the traffic down.

Bavali - Manathavady - Good roads.

95+% good roads

Quick question - we seem to have some time on sunday morning. Was thinking if I can bring my cycle as well along. Due to bike carriage on car, speeds will be limited to 100kmph max. Would that be inconvenience to our convoy? And moreover, sandsun7 can suggest if its worth brining bike on this trip
