It was a cold and gloomy morning on Saturday, the 15th. I was piggybacking with 2 other BHPians (mohanKV and rohittunga) in a white Punto, so I didn't have to worry about tanking up or checking tyre pressure of the car, etc.
They picked me up by 5ish and we reached the meeting point venue a couple of minutes later than 5:30 AM. While the newbies were all meeting and greeting each other, RSudarsanan was already checking off names on an attendance list and making a mental note of whether the stipulated number of cars were present.
The map of the route we were going to take to hit the beach resorts at Kannur, planned meticulously and to perfection by RSudarsanan sir.
A - initial meeting point at NICE road exit, Mysore road SH17.
B - breakfast stop at Kamat Upachar, Maddur (McDonald's campus)
C - Regroup at Srirangapatna for turnoff towards Hunsur
D - Coffee break at Cafe County, Hunsur-Madikeri road
E - Lunch stop at Ambatti greens resort, Bittangala near Virajpet.
F - Beach resorts at Payyambalam beachfront, Kannur
Sharp at 6AM, we departed for Kamat Upachar on Mysore road (adjacent to McDonald's). Being a winter morning, it was still dark until almost 7 AM. Surprisingly (for February in Bangalore), there was a light shower somewhere near Ramanagara town!
The convoy departs for the breakfast stop at Kamat, Maddur with diesel_convert in the lead (oops, I mean with us in front).

More convoy driving followed
Briefly following Robi's brilliantly driven Pete'd and modified Polo GT TSI
We were among the first to reach the breakfast point, roughly 45 km from the initial meeting point
The others in the convoy slowly poured in while I stood guard at the entrance lest they overshot the restaurant in the dark

But for our convoy, Mysore road surprisingly wore a deserted look even at 6.45 AM!
Some members parked their cars and proceeded to the restaurant while waiting for the others to rejoin the group
While some others used the spare time to tank up their cars
We had surprise visitors at the breakfast point - friendly mods Vid6639, ajmat and Samurai in a Jetta and Grand Vitara
Breakfast pictures have already been covered by abirnale earlier (So no pics of breakfast inside Kamat). We had nice Idli Vada Chutney Sambar and Dosas for what was quite an early breakfast. I made sure I stuffed myself properly to keep hunger at bay for as long as possible
. Some latecomers joined the convoy directly at the breakfast point.
By roughly 7.45 AM, members started to walk back to the parking lot to resume the journey.
Meanwhile there was a small gathering of BHPians with moderators Samurai, Ajmat and Vid6639 who had joined the meet (until the breakfast point).

After some banter sessions and chit-chatting, Ajmat and Vid6639 handed out 'Live to Drive' keychains to all the members present that day. Thanks guys for making it to the meet and seeing us off with the freebies!
Soon after, Diesel_convert and RSudarsanan rolled out some goodies of their own - specifically for this meet. We had stickers to be pasted on the rear windshield and front bumper for this drive. Kudos to both of them for the planning and design of a simple yet elegant vinyl sticker depicting this drive! The message says it all.
All the members departed one by one from Kamat. We were sweeping the convoy for the next stretch and left last, after seeing the moderators off.

After covering pace quickly with mohanKV behind the wheel, we caught up with robi's Polo and then proceeded together to meet the rest of the convoy at the next meeting point - Srirangapatna bridge
To be continued...
