This one goes out to all you fans of driving and nature.
An overnight drive-meet to the lush green Western Ghats.

March 15 & 16, 2014

The Plan:
- Depart Bangalore 6am March 15
Meet point is the service lane at the NICE Road/NH4 junction, opposite Bangalore International Exhibition Centre

- Regroup at junction of NH4-Tumkur Ring Road just outside Tumkur 7:00am
- Breakfast stop TBD - please look out for updates on this thread Monday
- Regroup just outside of Bhadravathi 11:30am
Please follow Convoy Driving rules from this point on, to ensure we all get to the resort together and in time for lunch!
- Regroup in Koppa town 12:30pm
- Arrive Kalgreen Valley Resort 1:30pm

- Depart Kalgreen Valley Resort 2:00pm after lunch. Please follow Convoy Driving rules.
- Regroup Aldur 3:30pm
- Tea Break Chikamagalur 4:00pm
- Regroup Kadur 6:00pm
You can break convoy from this point on

- Regroup just outside Tumkur 8:00pm
- Dinner and goodbye Vivanta By Taj, Yeshwantpur 9:30pm

Alternative return route would be to do Chikamagalur-Belur-Hassan-Nelamangala-Bangalore. This is faster, but we will miss the awesome Chikamagalur-Kadur stretch. We can collectively decide on the route while in the resort.

Approximate cost for the resort will be around 2500 per head inclusive of taxes and meals. Breakfast on 15th, tea and dinner on 16th, and other incidentals extra.

Please confirm attendance latest by Wednesday 12th March 1pm POSITIVELY with payment for the resort. When you confirm your attendance, I will PM/email you with payment details.
Availability of rooms is limited, and the resort will release all blocked rooms for general booking by 5pm on March 12th.

For all those still sitting the fence:

You can expect really good driving roads to and from the resort, and around the resort. Road conditions are reported to be generally good with the occasional patchy stretch, especially Bhadravathy-resort-Chikamagalur. Plenty of twisties to enjoy!
For those who are game, we can (if only for the reason of enjoying even more twisities) drive from the resort to Koppa to Balehonnur and back.

Weather will be pleasant, afternoons will be warm (but not hot), although it will get a bit more humid than Bangalore due to the resort being well inside a forest/tea estate. There is a pool we can use

Food will be typical Malnad style.

The resort is basic but clean and comfortable, so there will be no "luxury" touches. Please do not expect things like air conditioning (fans & mosquito repellant will be present). Rooms have 2 single beds each, which we can join or keep apart as we see fit. Each room has an attached bathroom.

Would love to join this meet as I missed last overnight meet but unfortunately it is Kids Exam time and also Financial Year end and busy with Taxation work.

Also have to go to collect Data from Camera Traps from Urigam Forest Range

Is there any chance it can be postponed to 5-6 April.

Hi guys,

The route going from Bangalore to the resort may have a bit of a change!
We are planning to go all the way up to Shimoga and then drive down via Thirthahalli to Koppa and then the resort!

This new plan will have a lunch stop at Shimoga. This is if you guys are up for an extra 80kms of twists .

The roads I can tell you are quite good!

Sounds like a very nice plan! I would have loved to join. But due to some prior commitments and other constraints (e.g. some important deadlines approaching on the work side), I will not be able to join. I will definitely try and join the next meeting.
