yep, i stand corrected, it was a lancer that was licked by the accent. yes that palio freak was really getting on everybodys nerves, just kept going round the track like his pants were on fire. these organisers need to really control the madness around the track..it can get very very dangerous what with all these half skilled lunatics doing funny things with their rice boy cars!..the funny part most of these guys are not even a part of the actuall event!!

No, I was baby-sitting / sorting out relatives property disputes - except for Rudra, I still remain a mysterious unknown entity to the rest of the Bangaloreans - whoops- one guy identified me, I was teaching a course in my company and one guy put two and two together ! He seems to be inactive now

Yea it did rehaan.

You have to remember India has, officially, had only 4 drag races till date. Everyone is learning the ropes. The organisers, the drivers, the riders, hell, even the spectators are figuring out where the best place to catch the action is.

A lot of things happen that are not supposed to, but that is to be expected. It will take time to educate all about the different types of drag racing out there. What's going on now is really at the absolute grassroots level. The organiers don't divide the cars/bikes into proper groups/classes as they don't want to bother too much about scrutinee.

The tuners and drivers themselves have a lot to learn about preparing cars. A lot now know that simply buying every part out of a catalogue does not make a car fast. Same thing with the big bikes, where launch technique is so critical. Its crazy that Hayabusa's here don't even get into the 10's, even the tricked out ones as Dom said there was in Bangalore this time. A totally stock 'busa runs in the mid 10's.

Give it time guys, just enjoy whats going on. Trust me, as it gets more professional, you will start to miss the "early days" when it was so simple to enter these events.

In a fit of irrationality, I tried doing this in a Tata Sierra in reverse on an empty road, it went out of control and lightly hit a lamppost - not recommended, there was no way, I could regain control

But wont the advantage of lower weight from having no doors, be equated by the loss in aerodynamics?

True gto, but cars here rarely touch more than 150 in a 1/4 mile, coz only after 140kph does the wind speed high enough to make aerodynamics affect anything. So there is more of a benefit than any loss. The zens hatch etc weight quite a lot. The weight was approx 650 kilos without the doors etc.

Cheers
