My suggestions:

1)Mulshi lake - Mum members can come by two diff roads.(a)From amby valley - again need to tackle heavy crowd (b)From Pune - Will have to cover longer distance.Will be short drive for Pune people.

2)Panshet Dam - Longer distance for our mates from the metropolis and too short for Puneites.

3)Tamhini Ghat - Mum members can come via Mangaon - Nizampur.But not sure of (a)Parking (b)Landslides.

4)Meet at K.P and move to Sunny Dhaba - So that crowd is avoided and we get to drive as a group.

5)Malshej Ghat.

6)Any Dhaba on old Mumbai Pune Highway between Bhor Ghat and Panvel.

27th Aug is Ganeshotsav (1st day).... i think v shud make the trip the following Sunday(thats the 3rd of Sept)...

I think it will be appropiate to keep meet after ganesh-otsav cause most of the members will be busy in festival mood & by that time BMC has to fix most of the pot hole driven roads before the final day of immersion.
just my opinion, you all guys decide whats the best.

P.S : would love to come to pune just to see the visarjan journey,on of the best of tradition dance & music ,lejhim,clothes,simply..... awesome !!!

How about we going to some other destination this time?

As Rahul said Malshej Ghats. We have been too many times to Amby Valley, lets go and enjoy some other place. And weather out there is fantastic.
It will be around 3 hrs drive from here.

lets postpone it to the sunday after the 27th due to ganpati and the turkish gp, still whining about missing the last gp. don't wanna miss this one at any cost.

guys - better lets do a Dadar - Panvel drive - beleive me it will take us a whole day to go to Panvel and come back because of the roads. I ask you guys to think again - the roads are non existent , so better if we wait till rains subside.
