Siliguri BHPians, please report

Member Rahul & me thought to initiate Siliguri's chapter & its BHPians.

There are few members as I do spot few cars [with Team-BHP stickers] when I visit there.

Here is a shout out to members from Siliguri, to report, so that at least, we can have a proper G2G, help members when they are this side & to keep in touch with like minded folks. After all, it is all about camaraderie.

Johy, where are you?

P.S - I don't stay at Siliguri, but keep visiting.

Re: Siliguri BHPians, please report

Thanks Sheel for this post and really loved your idea of having a meet here.

Ya i feel that will be great if we can have a Team-BHP meet here in Siliguri or nearby area as it is a gateway to North-East India which lures BHPians from all over the country.
We can have a meet even if few members from other places planning to cross this place or have a halt here.

I know a member from here itself who is my cousin Pankaj and will spread him the word. Would love to see more members turning up.

Great initiative! I am partly based in Siliguri, so it would be great to be a part of the Siliguri chapter of Team bhp.

I am a huge fan of your travelogues. I guess any BHP chapter would be honoured to have you.

Sheel, my good man, as much as I would like to take charge (with Rahul), I have to decline. Work keeps me at bay most days (in fact, I have not ventured out in ages :-), so I think Rahul would be the man).

@Rahul, I have "seen" you in Wheelocity some months back. Unfortunately, I noticed the teambhp sticker only after you had left (in your XUV500). We were discussing white light vis-a-vis yellow light in headlamps with Ravi (in case you remember).

So close yet so far sir. He would always mention about a BHPian, so finally it's you. Hope to see you again some day, may be before the meet and yes this meet won't be possible without your help sir.

Re: Siliguri Team-Bhp meet, June 30

Thanks to the insistence (or should I call it persistence) of the distinguished T-Bhpian, Sheel, we were able to finally have our very first Siliguri Team-Bhp meet.

Sheel was driving into town, so he insisted that we should meet up. And so we did. Although initially we were uncertain as to where we would want to go, we finally decided on a photo-shoot on the Rohini Road (this is the road that goes up from Siliguri to Darjeeling). The photo shoot was followed by a drive up to Rongtong over some beautiful tarmac.

Members present
1) Sheel. Scorpio S10 4WD.
2) Rahul_kej XUV500
3) rhythump (Pankaj) Ecosport
4) and 5) Rahul got his brother-in-law, Rajesh, along as well as his sister and they were great company.
6) I got my friend Debarshi as the official photographer who came with his Nikon D80. Thanks for the clicks!
7) And of course myself in my Linea T-Jet.

Rahul and Sheel met up at the Cosmos Mall and drove up to Darjeeling More and met up with me and Debarshi at a petrol pump in Salbari. Rhythump (Pankaj) joined us soon and we were on our way.

After the photo-shoot, we headed for Rongtong. Great twisty roads and everyone had a lot of fun.

Re: Siliguri BHPians, please report

Its an honour to be a member of this group and to be a part of the first Bhpians meet in Siliguri.

First of all a big thanks to Sheel for making this meet happen and to John too for being flexible with his timings and bringing his friend Debashri who was very patient in clicking our pictures with his Nikon D80.

Posting few pictures clicked by my BIL from his Sony portable camera.

Started off with a massive traffic jam at the Darjeeling More crossing.

After negotiating the jam for 30 minutes, soon followed good tarmac and freeway.

The road got better and better so did the beauty of nature.

Just a discussion before a pose, actual picture in Johns post just one above.

Me with my BIL(Rajesh), an aspiring Team-BHP member and enthusiast for cars and road trips. Have done several road trips together.

No mercy kind of looks.

John a proud owner of his very well maintained T-Jet. Beside him is his friend Debashri who has a good hand in photography.

Rhythumps phone kept him busy.

Sheel in his usual pose, being stared by his black beast.

On our way to Rongtong for some snacks, it was around 1pm and trust me Sheel had nothing since morning 4:30am.
Siliguri BHPians, please report-dsc02631.jpg

Trying a different pose on our way to Rongtong.
Siliguri BHPians, please report-dsc02640.jpg

A parting shot.
Siliguri BHPians, please report-dsc02647.jpg

Though it was a short meet of 3 hours or so, we are grateful to each other for taking out time from our busy schedule and making this meet a success. Looking forward for a bigger Team of Bhpians in this region and many more meets.
