What: Delhi/NCR BHPians drive to Narkanda - In search of snow.
When: 23rd to 25th February.
Where to: Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh.

Plan:
23rd February/Friday:

• Drive to Chandigarh after office, reach Chandigarh as per you own convenience.
• Check-in at Hotel Sapphire, Zirakpur.
• Delhi to Chandigarh distance: ~230 Kms.

24th February/Saturday:

• Breakfast at Amritsari Kulcha, Chandigarh.
• Drive to Narkanda.
• Check-in at Tethys Ski Resort.
• Drive/Hike to Hatu Peak.
• Chandigarh to Narkanda distance: ~180 Kms.

25th February/Sunday:

• Breakfast at Hotel.
• Check-out from Tethys Ski Resort.
• Drive back to Delhi.
• Narkanda to Delhi distance: ~425 kms.

Accomodation:

• Chandigarh: Hotel Sapphire, Zirakpur. Approximately 2,700/- per room.
• Narkanda: Tethys Ski Resort. Approximately 4,500/- per room (breakfast included).

The plan sounds pretty good but unfortunately this year the rain Gods as well as snow Gods have refused to oblige.
The temperature has increased quite a bit and it will be only a miracle if you find snow around Narkanda.
The only hope is a severe attack of the Western Disturbance which can bring snow & rain.
The situation is so much critical that Rohtang pass on Manali-Leh road has merely 6 or 7 feet of snow.

So, it snowed in shimla today. Maybe we are lucky. Anyways, adding more info:

1- Hotels have been finalized & I will be booking as I receive the money from confirmed people.

2- Cost per person for both days- hotel in twin sharing basis (w/out breakfast) is 4000/- INR on twin sharing, so effectively 2k per person per night.

3- In Chandigarh- It's going to be either best western or velvet clarks exotica (4 star) on main highway in Zirakpur. In Narkanda, we are going to stay at Tethys ski resort.

All those who are confirmed, please finalise by 14th Feb. Post which, Hotel availability & cost of accommodation may vary.

Me & Traveller Nayak will be starting at 10PM on Friday for Chandigarh stay in our respective cars, rest of the gang is planning to leave around 2-3PM.

From Zirakpur, we will start at 8 Am, then we will head to our breakfast point for amritsari kulche & head to Narkanda.

If we are to believe the weather forecast for 24-25th Feb, it is expected to rain and night temperatures will hit the freezing point
