Being a weekend and last days of summer vacations, availability of house-boat also needs to be confirmed well in advance.

What say?
For everyone's info,

There was a houseboat accident, I guess today at Vembanad Lake. Reason seems to be like water seeping into the lower deck of boat due to rains.

Exactly a week left for our trip. I expect some of our seniors who has done a couple of meets to chalk out a plan to decide on Plan B.

I am ready to vote.

re: Quick mini-meet(s) in Kochi (Cochin)

Hey guys, I just had a thought.

How about going to Kumarakom the long way around - ie via Muvattupuzha - Kottayam, along the MC Road?

Should be a good drive and hopefully the roads won't have much traffic.

+1.

If the rains are not too heavy, then it should be ok.

But as revintup said, there could be heavy fog which will be risky to drive through.

If the rains are just moderate, then we can still go to Vagamon. It will be a good drive. However, we won't be able to see around the places with sluh playing spoil sport. The drive itself would be a good experience.

Is there anyone amongst us who can strike a good deal with any resorts there?

If its only drive, we can even go to Munnar and be back by evening.

re: Quick mini-meet(s) in Kochi (Cochin)

Hi Guys,

Rains in Kottayam and Idukki are not so heavy since yesterday. I see a very positive thrust towards Vagamon. So lets keep it as our most preferred even if ts raining (not so heavily)? I spent my 3 years of college life in the best hill-station in KK road and can vouch slight rain is fun but not heavy rains.

Anyways we need to keep a strong Plan B ready to ensure we do not call off this meeting. Its one big meet to be! I would also not recommend a boat ride now, lot of gaps in maintenance which leads to accidents these days. A beach gathering would be refreshing no doubt.

Beach gathering? How about munambam or andhakaranazhi?

Beypore also came to my thoughts. But that's close to 200kms from here

Beach get together? How about munambam or andhakaranazhi ?
Varkala and Beypore is also there. However, both are close to 200 kms from here

Mods, kindly merge my earlier post. Got posted by mistake while using the phone app. Thanks to the network coverage in my area

Beypore is a good idea. If we leave by 7:30 from Cochin, we can make it there by 12-12:30, including breaks.

+NH 17 is never crowded and would make it a pleasurable drive.

So Plan A - Vagamon

Plan B- Beypore ?????

I have a couple of doubts. When are we going to decide whether its Plan A or Plan B ?

How are we going to alert everyone whether its Plan A or B on D-1 day ?

200 is a huge number since I have less BHP but nothing really matters.

Alerting everyone wouldn't be an issue since we have mobile numbers of all concerned.
To give you some relief, its not 200, just 179 kms as per Google

re: Quick mini-meet(s) in Kochi (Cochin)

Will Beypore work out? I guess it would take around 4-5 hours right considering the traffic along this route(I know Vagamon will take time but that's a scenic drive). As for Plan B, I guess andhakaranazhi would be good. Cant call it as a drive since it's near but something to be considered as a backup plan.

Beypore is too far away guys.

Won't be a TBHP drive, it'll end up being a TBHP race. :P

If beach is preferred, then I think either Alleppey beach or Munambam beach is better.

Just my thoughts guys!

Man, I have taken pains in kind of erasing Allepey beach from everyone's mind and I succeeded. There is no discussions of Allepey beach at all here now a days.
