How about taking half-a-day off from work ?

Himanshu, Would it be possible to have a half-day tour? The interested bhpians can meetup after lunch and then proceed for the Volvo-plant tour. If we are able to reach the plant by 2-2:30 PM, we'll still have 3 hours...

Cheers,
Su-47

Guys, this was supposed to be organized around the Easter weekend, but looks like we overshot the date. Would need to rethink and replan the whole thing again. However, the number of participants on a weekday seem to be really less.

Lets see if more people express interest for a weekday/half-day trip and we get the critical mass!!

I am sure it would be a lot of rework and replanning, but it would be fun!!
Would it possible to do a half-day tour? More people may be interested in a half-day tour... Many of us have flexible work schedules, and it is *usually* possible to catch up with half a day's work.

Count me in for a weekday / half-day trip. Actually I'd prefer this over a weekend coz by the time Friday comes around the weekend is booked solid with chores.

@Ramki : Weekend plans are not possible, as the Volvo factory isnt working then. Has to be a weekend thingy. himanshu was the one who was organizing this... looks like he hasnt gotten back with anything since.

Sorry, what I meant to say was that I'd prefer a weekday trip rather than weekend. Guess that didnt come across :-)

Ramki, I am sure you know 1st May is *Mazdoor-Diwas* and is a statutory holiday. When mazdoors like us are getting a day off, Volvo's workforce would like to be away from work too!

I've been to the Volvo plant before with a friend in 1999. That was a long time ago and before they started manufacturing the low floor buses and >40tonne trucks. Even if you don't get to see those marvelous masses of metal coming off the assembly line, the plant is worth a visit just for its landscaping .

Himanshu, if there's space on any weekday, I'd like to join.

Wow! I love you guys: wizardofid, varunroy, ajitkommini and nitrous!

Assuming Himanshugoswami and benbsb29 also join, we have a group of 7 people. Another auto-freak friend of mine (non-bhpian but drives a Palio, need I say more ) has expressed intrest. Seems we are inching towards critical mass.

Volvo, wake up and allow us in!!

Do you know him well? How did you get in touch with him?

I met him few years ago and hence these questions..
