Happy new year 2021 !
We are planning a TBHP boys only Meet at Beeman Falls near Jamunamarudhur - Jawadhu Hills . Place is close to Vaniyambadi / Polur depending on which direction you are headed from and makes it kinda easier for both Chennai and Bengaluru folks.
Date - Saturday 09 Jan 2021

The place is not commercialised yet and has good water flow thanks to the rains. Roads are pretty good too. Situated few kms from Jamunamarudhur town (in case you need some snacks etc..).

Proposed Itinerary from Chennai:
1. Chennai to Beeman Falls
a. Start at home. Meet at Saveetha Byepass by 5.15-5.30. Start from Poonamallee byepass by 5.30
b. Proceed towards Arcot. After Palar bridge, turn left into Arcot town, navigate towards Polur-Thiruvannamalai road.
c. ˛Proceed towards Polur town (avoid byepass) and take right towards Jamunamarudhur road. Once you negotiate the town, roads are fairly nice and clear.
d. Arrive at Beeman falls by 10 (220kms ~). Spend 2 hours.
2. Beeman falls to lunch @ vellore (TBD)
a. Proceed towards Kavanur and Alangayam
b. From Alangayam , head straight to Vaniyambadi and drive to Vellore.
c. Reach by 1.30 pm for lunch.
3. Have good food and leisurely drive back to Chennai

Bengaluru folks , you can join directly at the falls at around 10am.

The journey time would be about 3.5 hrs from Silk board for a leisurely drive.

You might miss hairpins though (the Polur route has few of them )
Roads are mostly good , the ghat section is a bit narrow but nothing alarming. The last 1 km into the falls is a narrow stretch and if you have ground hugging car, drive a bit slow (no major cause of worry).

All in all a lovely opportunity to catch up and LTD !

BHPian suresh_gs went in this less trodden route in Dec2019-Jan2020 time. He posted about this route with wonderful snaps here (Bangalore - Thiruvannamalai : Route Queries).

Sadly it was one his last posts on TBHP . He passed away on 6th February 2020. There is an obituary thread (RIP Team-BHPian Suresh_gs (aka Toll-Free Suresh)) in TBHP as well.

Hope you folks have a wonderful and memorable trip and think of 'Toll Free' Suresh at least once during this trip.
