Re: Quick meets in and around London

with so much enthusiasm on view about the landrovers and range rovers, I would like to suggest a visit to the Range Rover factory in Solihull, near Birmingham Airport. https://www.solihull.landroverexperience.co.uk/ It is on my bucket list of things to do. When I used to visit Solihull for work, I had heard great reviews of the place and overall experience.

We are not able to fix a date for the next meet. We have a few Team-bhpians here but every time we fix a date something or other comes up. This Solihull factory visit is a great suggestion but it will be quite a distance from London for a meet. I have been planning to do this trip for a very long time now but it is not materialising. Let's see!

What are you on about? Hardly a 4 hr roundtrip! You can wrap it up on any weekend!

The bigger problem for you I guess is to decide which Landy to take!

Hey fellas,
I'd be well up for a meet-up around London. If distance is a constraint, may I suggest some spots within an driveable hour distance of London. Boxhill in Surrey, Reading or similar places come to mind.

Maybe wrong thread BlackPearl but it is worthwhile visiting on your own and checking it out. It is an agenda for my next UK - we are very US focused now - whenever that materialises !

Anyways, lets fix a date and stick to it. How does 8th May sound?

I love Boxhill and go there frequently. However most of the people are from around Reading, so it will be better to fix a place near Reading or Wokingham.

Re: Quick meets in and around London

Finally we were able to have a meet in the UK with more than 2 people attending! It was a sudden decision to meet after office and that too on a Monday evening. 3 cars and 5 people turned up. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Must say thanks to Team Bhpian austere_sly who came to the UK recently and forced everyone to have a meet. Without his effort it would have been in the planning phase like the last several years!

The place was chosen so that it would not be too much of a drive for any of us. We reached there at the planned time but decided to move the venue to a nearby one as it looked better. But before moving we took a few photos of the cars lined up.

The cute Mini being guarded by two giants

The Mini belongs to 51morris and there is a thread on Team Bhp about it. It will be an understatement to say that it is in a stunning condition. I had read about it that it was a well maintained one, but seeing it in flesh was a revelation. The interior looked like the car came out of the showroom a couple of days back.

A few photos of us -

The Mini garnered the most amount of interest followed by the 40 year old battered and bruised Land Rover Series III. The newest kid on the block, the new Land Rover Defender was feeling a little left out. So after sometime we turned our attention to it and the owner was very happy to show all the cool features of the £85,000 Defender.

Signing off with a photo of the Series III that I took after everyone had left

Will request the others to post the photos they had clicked yesterday.

Awesome collection of vehicles there, and good to put a face to the names. May this be the start of many such get-togethers!

What a lovely meet. All the 3 cars are legends in their own way!
