Re: Team-BHP meet in the Netherlands

Good initiative, I would love to join as well.
I will have to check but crossing from Belgium into Netherlands for a few hours should be OK (no test).

Since Jeroen asked, I will be coming alone.

Re: Team-BHP meet in the Netherlands

Hello All,

We live at the dutch border with Belgium and cross to and fro every day as we have houses on both sides. I would love to join on 26th. We will be in two.

Regards,
Kiron

Crossing the border should not be a problem. One of my friends living in the Netherlands traveled to Brussels and returned by road two days ago. Let me know if you need any inputs, I can ask him

Please check this link. https://www.government.nl/topics/cor...nd-declaration, AFAIK you do not need a negative test if you are entering Holland via car.

Also, if you stay abroad for less than 48 hours, you do not need a test/quarantine to go back to Belgium.

Kiron

Re: Team-BHP meet in the Netherlands

OMG.....never thought there will be an opportunity like this in the Holland! Thanks a ton all of you for starting and taking the initiative ahead
I would love to join if I am around but can't confirm at this moment as I am planning to visit India during the later half of this month, if I can. Apologies for keeping it hanging as there are too many variables to decide on travel dates (although I saw news that flights to India are resumed now as of yesterday), but I will buzz in with my response as soon as I have firm planning done.

Just a side thought: is there an informal group of Netherlands++ region for quick conversations on ongoing basis as some people might not be browsing TBHP everyday. I guess whatsapp group will be quite handy. Thanks again

Re: Team-BHP meet in the Netherlands

Update:

So this is what the day is beginning to look like:

Team-BHP meet in the Netherlands-screenshot-20210604-6.55.02-am.png

Depending on weather/Corona and size of the group I suggest we meet up either at our home, or nearby hotel de Schildkamp (https://www.schildkamp.nl/en) from 10-10.30 onwards. We can have some koffie en gebak (coffee and cake).

By about 11.45 we will leave for the nearby Minidome miniature car museum. I met up with Berndt yesterday and he is very happy to help out. ( https://www.minidome.nl/homeSengels.html ).

Berndt museum is tiny, cramped, there are more than 7000 model cars too look at, and there is even a dedicated Indian car section. And Berndt likes to talk a lot. Even so, we should not spend more that 45 minutes there. Our route will take us along the river Linge and some nearby rural little roads to the charming village of Buren. It will take about 35 km and an hour of driving to get there. We will take a little walk from the (free) car park into town. I will arrange for lunch in one of the restaurants. It will be a typical Dutch set up, bread, salads, kroketten etc.

After lunch we will follow the Linge for a short while, then turn South where we will hit the river Waal. Europe’s busiest river. We will follow the river along the dike back west. Close to Zaltbommel we will stop along the dike, photo app, maybe have an ice cream or so. We need to cross the Waal on a short stretch of motorway (only 3km) from where we head cross country to Heusden. As you would expect we will come across a Pontje (Ferry). This particular ferry crossing is free of charge. We will park (free) just outside the city walls of Heusden and walk into town. This second part is about 40 km and again just over an hour driving. We can wander around town a bit, there are several cafe’s / restaurants where we can sit down, have some coffee/tea or something else.

Depending on time and whoever is still up for it, we can drive to Waalwijk to visit E.R. Classic. It is about 15 minutes drive. They close at 17.00 hours though.

E.R. Classics is next to the main motorway exit Waalwijk on the A59. So everybody can make their way home, from either Heusden or Waalwijk. Whatever takes your fancy.

Could each of you PM me with your real name, mobile phone number and an e-mail address please. I will mail some more detailled information and the GPX file so you can download it into your navigation device. If you can not use the GPX file, not to worry. I have a foolproof system of taking cars along on these routes without loosing anybody. All will be explained.

I will compile the list of names, phone number for everybody. Just let me know if you do not like your details shared.

Looking forward to seeing you all!

One thing we might want to consider is for some of us to car pool. You get to spend some more time with everybody, we can swap seats/cars after every stop. The only thing is whoever car pools will need to drive back to the starting point. From Heusden or Waalwijk a 35-40 minute drive, by motorway, or cross country and another Pontje!

Jeroen
