Re: Team-BHP meet in the Netherlands

A great day in Netherlands, thanks to a very sophisticated agenda setup by by Jeroen.

Another successful "international" meet, far away from home, shows how Team-BHP keeps everyone linked together irrespective of location or country of origin.

Time to plan the next meet...

Posting some pictures from today.
(Sorry for the, strictly OK, photos from cell-phone quality)

Beginning the day with some coffee as Jeroen briefs us all on whats ahead.

Sadly we did not find enough space to park all the cars together for a group photo (I know, how is that possible in a fully flat Netherlands right?)
So here is a "make-shift" one

Time for some tasty food in Buren

Another group photo, this time in Buren

Since I did not continue further to E.R Classics, lets wait for some others to post pictures from that location.

Cheers!

Thanks for the photos Stratos! It was nice to meet fellow bhpians, this was my first T-BHP meet. To the Bhipians I missed meeting in Asperen, I hope we can catch up the next time.

4 cars continued to E.R. classics via the beautiful Dutch countryside. Some of the sights were breathtaking. The route planned by Jeroen, is best enjoyed in a cabriolet! Since avinash_clt had his partner in the car, I'm hoping he can share a few photos of the drive route.

We reached E.R. classics 15 minutes before they closed. Since I was going ga-ga over the cars on display, most of which were built before I was born, I forgot to take photos.

I've been eagerly waiting for pics from this meet, and am delighted to see the first pics - great they are ! If possible, would love to see names(handles) to the faces.

Those few pics look absolutely picture postcard perfect; would love to see more. Now, a noob question - why is the Mitsubishi sporting a white license plate while the others are sporting yellow?

Here is the photo updated with handles (Stratos, I hope you don't mind me nicking your photo to add handles ). Only one missing in this pic is govindremesh, who joined us for lunch. You will see him sporting a horizontal striped tee's in the lunch@Buren pic from previous posts.

Well, it is not the Mitsubishi colt (of avinash_clt) alone, but IIRC, 2 other cars in the meet (BMW 520i of Stratos & MB C300 of the_real_slager) are also white plates. These bhp-ians are from Belgium and hence the white plates. NL uses yellow plates for most vehicles.

More info: Number plates - NL & BE

Re: Team-BHP meet in the Netherlands

It was really nice to meet everyone yesterday ! Thanks Jeroen for making a nice schedule, had a really good time driving through Gelderland. Some of the roads were really beautiful!

The one photo that I managed to click -

We should definitely do this more frequently.

Maybe next time we can plan something during one of the track days at Zandvoort ? We will also have the option to do some fast laps on a Grand Prix track if we want
Info about track days at https://www.vrijrijden.nl/

Alternatively, we can plan a drifting day(if people are into it) at one of the drifting schools. I’ve been to one before in Lelystad and it’s quite fun.

Also I understand some of us are interested in plane spotting. The McDonald’s outside Schiphol, with the spottersplaats, has been recently renovated and has a big enough parking space for cars.

One reason used to be the reduced glare from the yellow colour compared to white. For example, UK license plates which are yellow only at the rear.

Re: Team-BHP meet in the Netherlands

Great meeting everybody yesterday!! So good to be able to put some faces to the “forum handles”. I am glad everybody enjoyed themselves and enjoyed the route.

Another suggestion for a next meeting: The Louwman museum in The Hague.
Absolutely stunning car museum!

Re: Team-BHP meet in the Netherlands

Absolutely delighted to have met everyone yesterday and we enjoyed the drive/food/company and conversations. Amid the pandemic, it was by all means, a breath of fresh air.

Dear Jeroen,

Thank you for your meticulously curated trip, your choice of stops and a very beautiful driving route. Humbled to meet you in person and your attention to detail in everything.

Pictures don’t do justice to the amazing choice of route Jeroen had drawn up, along some landscape that is unique to Netherlands. Someone should bring a drone next time.

Just so happened that my cabrio hard-top decided not to open yesterday. Symptoms suggest a confused window position sensor on one side, oh well, another thing to ponder on. A Mitsu built partially in NL, sharing platform with a German (Smart), with a JDM engine (4G15T) and roof system designed and built by Italians (Pininfarina). No surprise which of them fail first

Some pictures from our side, all taken by my partner. She is not happy with the roof not opening and therefore the quality of pictures she could manage

Same at our side, so many cars and just 15min, will visit the place once again for sure. Only adding this cute Fiat 500 that I have on my phone.

That will be fun, have been to Zandvoort as a visitor for a DTM/Touring car round (cannot recall the event correctly). It was fun and would love to have the opportunity to drive there, as well as the drifting school.

Re: Team-BHP meet in the Netherlands

Hi Jeroen,

Thank you for planning this drive. It was fun to drive on these rural roads with beautiful scenery.

I agree that we should do it more often. This is the one of the very few drives where I clicked less pictures but enjoyed to the fullest.

I’ll try to upload some videos from my dashcam as well. Till the time enjoy some of the pictures from my gallery -

Lovely Meet and great pictures. So good to see people without Masks there. Hopefully, we would also be lucky to roam without Masks in a few month's time.
