| Re: Team-BHP Kolkata family picnic - 12th January 2025 Okay, so the picnic happened and it went off fantastically well. The gathering was little more in numbers compared to the last year and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Got to know and meet many members with whom I had only interacted in the forum till date. Lovely friends, lip smacking food and some good talk amidst a wonderful setting on a cold winter morning- a perfect day to spend a day I say. It was really wonderful to meet fellow members Dibyendu Bose, hothatchaway and his daughter Joyee( also a BHPian) for the first time. We had a fantastic time getting to know each other. It was great to listen to Mr Bose and his experiences in general. Sad that fellow member tupai couldn’t make it. I am sure it must have been some pressing issue which kept him out of the meet. I hope he joins us in our next meet, whenever that happens that is. My heartfelt gratitude to fellow members Neversaygbye and Nomadiclife for taking the effort in making this picnic happen. I know what it takes to organise these things. So thank you to both. The food was just as brilliant and it exceeded our expectations by miles. Starting with the breakfast along with the numerous varieties of snacks in between the lunch, i simply gorged on the food. And what more to say about the sweets- I have personally not attended any gathering/ picnic till date where they served four varieties of sweets during a main course meal. And each tasted heavenly. Some pictures from my side, I am sure better pictures will be shared by others. The main leads behind the picnic Neversaygbye and Nomadiclife with their characteristic smiles.   Some pictures from the venue and its surroundings. The place has its own organic garden and everything that they serve is from their own garden only.      I was so engrossed in the food that forgot to take pictures. Sharing some though which I managed to click. These coriander leaves fritters were great.  And then these cauliflower florets fries   French fries specially for the kids. We had fish fingers, chicken fries and fish batter fry for ourselves.  Better halves enjoying their time.  Fellow member Ghostrider28 had his better half alongside him last year but this year he had to make do with a grumpy looking Altocumulus only !!  And then Altocumulus in his usual avatar.  Fellow member Joyee and Hothatchaway, joining us for the first time here. They are standing on the left alongside Priyashree with Aenkay91 peeping from behind, Breathtodrive, hokkolorob, dip27in, sandman689 here.  And lastly, this brilliant single wood carved Durga Idol, lit up for the evening aarti.  So that’s it from my side. Apologies for not clicking more pictures. | BHPian | Re: Team-BHP Kolkata family picnic - 12th January 2025 The annual picnic this year was even bigger and better than the one last year, and like ABHI_1512 has mentioned, everyone had a gala time. There were close to 40 attendees, across all ages. Our first stop was the initial meeting point right after Sreerampore Toll Plaza  A quick round of tea followed at the NH2 Dhaba there. This gave everyone a chance to meet up and then proceed as a convoy.    We reached the venue a little after 9:30 am.  Another round of tea and coffee followed accompanied by a breakfast of succulent peas' kachori paired with cauliflower curry.   What set apart this year's picnic was the addition of new members and an overall improvement in both the venue and the menu.   BHPian Sdg4wheels' son was the youngest participant.  As is amply evident from the pics in Abhi's post, the overall standard of maintenance has improved over the past year, and though this venue was a repeat from last year, there was new landscaping and additional sit out areas that had been added, which helped in further improving the overall ambience.  There was diversity in age and gender among the attendees as well, with hothatchaway's daughter joyee undoubtedly being the youngest BHPian on the day. We also had quite a fair bit of family representation, with the better halves and the kids enjoying the salubrious surroundings and the excellent food on offer. There were long adda (chat) sessions too among all and it was really great to see the camaraderie among everyone present.      In parallel, the resort staff were busy cooking up a storm.    We were served sumptuous mid-morning snacks of fritters with fish fingers, chicken pakoras and batter fried fish.   The kids (and some of the adults) had brought badminton rackets, a cricket bat and a ball, so there was plenty to do in terms of activity too.    As is usually the case in all picnics, something or the other happens that makes the event memorable and in this case someone managed to hit the ball into the pond, giving Cr4nkshaft and cdibya a chance to demonstrate their incredible ball retrieval skills.  Time flew by and very soon it was time for lunch, which was again a mouth watering affair.    And then it was time to leave, but not before taking the mandatory group photo. Unfortunately BHPians Shuvc, Dibyendu Bose, DevOnWheels, hok kolorob, Cr4nkshaft and DJR are missing in the photograph.   Last edited by KarthikK : 15th January 2025 at 11:40. Reason: As requested |
