My car will be in the workshop for a repaint job. If I don't get it back by Sunday morning, I will be hitching a ride. I guess there is not dearth of space, now that Karl's Amby is coming along!

Would Mahabaleshwar not be crowded on a Sunday ? Anyways will not be able to make it - too much of homework to catch up with :(.

You guys have a blast and drive safe.

Be fully equipped. You'll need a toolkit, additional fan belts, extra fuses, bulbs, a can of oil, a Jerry Can and some bottles of water. With an old Amby, there's no telling what you'll need, but, it's easy to fix. From experience, I can say the old Amby operates best with the temperature reading 60 - 80. Keep the speed between 60 and 80.
Another advantage is that you won't need a heater in the chill of Mahabaleshwar. The Amby's engine heat is good enough.

Which model is it? Add a driveshaft to the list if it is a diesel.

I'll try to make it. But are you guys coming with Kiran to Mumbai on Saturday as planned at the earlier Pune meet? I then hop into Kiran's Palio to Pune and then into Karls Amby from Pune to Mahableshwar.
So that makes 17 + 1 in the Amby!

I am already visualising Karl at Chor Bazaar looking for Truck tyres and a Matador Engine.

I usually take another approach, I talk to the car, be one with the car, and threaten her that if she breaks down she goes to that big junkyard on the sky. Its worked so far.

Im bringing one of the Fiats though. Even with a new master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, new liners, new brake pipes etc im still not happy with the brakes, especially not on the ghats.

Sorry guys, Cannot make it.

Have to rush out of town (to Calcutta - actually). Mother is not well.

You guys have fun.

P.S: I started out for Mahabaleshwar on 27.01.08 but had to turn back half way as there was a "Rasta-Roko" near Shirwal. Missed the ice on Venna lake

Did you wait it out or did you return?

I was lucky that I got stopped at a a cross-road. I waited it out for an hour and then turned back.

We then had our lunch at Soul-Curry. A good restaurant. Their Thali is to seen to be believed.
