| Travelogue / Trip Report : Part 1 Ok Guys, I think its time that one of us starts to post a report / travelogue of the 4 days of absolute madness that ensued from the 6th to the 9th of March! I dont have any pictures with me right now, so we can ask on of the mods to add them later. Before I Begin, Let me just say, this was by far The Best Birthday celebration I have ever had! The drive, the place, the company, most importantly how much fun we had..all brilliant! Thanks a ton guys, this trip was extra nice special for me!  Who's birthday is next :-) Plan Conception : The whole idea of this trip was completely random and planned almost instantly. Moral, Gautam and I were having a couple of drinks one evening at my place when conversation shuttled between a long drive / what a nice place Goa is / me bringing in my last Birthday at the office (Alcohol + 3 slightly high people = 3 completely different conversations going on simultaneously). That was it. Suddenly something clicked and we all said GO GOA!! A couple of phone calls later and we had the basics chalked out, that is attendees, cars and route. Accomodation was to be arranged once we got there. Ground Work: PLanning the trip wasn't much of an issue as Kiran does the Pune - Goa route very often and knows all the alternative routes. A route which would have us on good roads for most of the time was chalked out and we were ready to go! The Cars: Ikon 1.6 Swale84 Civic Vikram18 Esteem Fatalerror The attendees (In no particular order) 1. Gautam (Fatal3rror) : 2. Kiran (MoralFibre / Oral FIbroid / fisherman / skirt boy) 3. Abhinav (Abhinav.Arora) 4. Karl (Karlosdeville / Karloose) 5. Amey (Amey / Amee ) 6. Dhaval (Dhaval / Towel / Dhavlee) 7. Vikram (Vikram18 / VikRUM / VikFENI) 8. Deepak (Vikrams Feni drinking friend) 9. Suhail (Swale84) Shrivz was supposed to join us as well, but unfortunately fell ill a couple of days before we were supposed to leave and got grounded at home. DAY 0, 5th March 08. Since we were planning on leaving early in the morning (4: 30 am) KKiran and Gautam were to crash at my & Abhinav's house. The plan was to be asleep by 8, so we all got atleast 6 to 8 hours of sleep before the drive. *I honestly dont know why we bothered*. It all seemed like it would fall apart when everyone arrived at 8 and we decided to have 'one beer each'. Although we did manage to stick to our quota of one each each (OK, some of us had two), we ended up at eating dinner at eleven and finally turning in at twelve!.3: 45 am: Forunately, when we woke up at 3:45, everyone was so excited that sleep was the last thing on our minds. A couple of quick calls to Karl, Dhaval, AMey and Vikram to confirm that everyone was up and we were pretty pleased with ourselves for being on schedule. 4:25 am: Left from my place in Gautam's and my car, picked up Karl, then proceeded to Amey's house to pick up Dhaval and Amee. 5:00 am : Left Amey's house, bang on target!! From there we were to hit the highway, where Vikram and Deepak would join us. 5:30 am : Stop after the first Katraj bypass toll booth for fuel and to wait for Vikram. Odo reading approx 40 kms from Amey's house. Treating this as the end of Day 0 From here on the real fun begins! TO be continued...... Suhail Last edited by swale84 : 11th March 2008 at 12:21. |
