I am in for Sunday meet, this 11th or even 18th.

Gadiara will be around 120-130 km from respective residence. It will take around 2.5 hours taking into fact a halt at Uluberia Reliance for a brief stop. The turning is at Bagnan [around 8 km[?] from Reliance] on NH6 and then later again a left turn at Shyampur.

The WBTDC Rupnaryanpur Lodge is there at Gadiara beside Rupnarayan River.

@ AnirbanDC - i think it will be better if we start a bit early - reach there by 10-11am and return to kolkata by 5-6pm.

so do we meet somewhere near AJC Bose Rd Flyover near the IOC bunk?

where are the lazy ones / members ? - i am taking into consideration that they have already confirmed.

No way I can travel 120 Kms in 2.5 Hours. I think I will have to start much earlier as my newly acquired old Jeep can travel at an average speed of 30Kmph.

Definitely early start would be good, may be around 7:30 and reach Gadiara around 10:30 and then take the journey back at 4-4:30 and come back here by 6:30 pm.

When did you get this jeep, dont recall seeing any posts. Surely you can come up to 40 kph. Taking that speed into account you should be in by 1100, taking a 715-730 am departure.

like adc said, it will be better to start early (7.30ish) and leave late (4-4.30ish)- the heat will take less toll on us as well as the cars.

guys - please carry water bottles as well.

Am not sure any more about this weekend. Phoenix is due for some important repairs and I don't want to risk a long journey without those being done. Was supposed to go to the workshop yesterday, but they are not going to be able to start before Thursday. And I don't want to take the Santro this time.
So, if you all are headed there this weekend, me's out :(

Today evening having a talk with one of my friend in Haldia and knowing that area has cautioned just as a precautionary measure to postpone at least for this weekend due to the May 11, 14 and 18 panchayat election. May 18 is for the north bengal districts but 11 and 14 are for Midnapur and Howrah.

"Massive presence of security forces with searching of cars as well as unexpected political violence can happen".

Though sceptical about it first, I thought to share as any untoward incident, like security forces searching any of our car/cars and making a scene and/or getting caught up during polls would leave a bad feeling.

But rural polls definitely is a different scenario, if by chance any problem happens definitely it is more violent. It is better to be safe and err on the side of caution.
