Good to see the enthusiasm

have sent out a round of SMSes to the people who have confirmed, requesting info about their dietary preferences.

for the people who are yet to confirm
these are the details we need to book rooms/beds/dinner
so when you send in confirmations by SMS to me- please add dietary preferences.

TBHP ID
Age
number of guests(adults)
Veg/Non veg

this thread is already 11 pages long, we have 1 week to go, and the entire trip to report and photograph. in some ways, a well planned out trip is nicer than the spur of the moment cross country dashes.

people who have put up their names on the thread, and not confirmed by SMS, whats happening?

Home ministry problems?

I am in the process of setting up a kennel club/temporary accomodation for people who will be thrown out their houses by their wives/girlfriends

Possible solutions
1
. wining/dining+ flattery
2. whining- (as helpfully suggested by steeroid)
3. bringing them along(most politically correct option)
4. disappearing without notice and facing the consequences if and when they arise(mansidea's technique-very effective for him, apparently)
5.breaking the news to them in stages
for example- try this, it worked for me.
me:-molu...I'll be going on a TBHP meet on the 14th
her:-humph! with those bunch of no gooders?
me:- its just harmless fun, a little driving, thats all
her:-you will go anyway, why are you asking me for permission?
me:-I never do anything without telling you(innocent smile for effect)
her:-OK
two days later-
me:-molu! its an all day trip!
her:-where to?
me:-idukki
her:-ghats! in the rain???? are you mad?
me:-
a week later
me:- you know that trip to idukki? all those idiots are forcing me to go on a 2 day trip.I wont let them!
her:-ok! make sure it becomes a one day trip
ten days later
me:-its not working! they are going on a 2 day trip. its decided
her:-what will you do?
me:-I'll ditch them in the evening, and come back.
her:-drive back alone in the evening? through the ghats? what about the fog?
me:-oh! I didnt think of that...(pause)
her:-best you stay overnight!
me:-(doing mental cartwheels+singing the final countdown from top gun)

6.giving notice/informing better half of your decision like a man and sticking to it.Yeah Right!!! like thats going to happen!

in my case it was a combination of methods 1,2 and 5

I wish I could. Lots of happenings in life currently. God willing, if things improve and the gang organises something of this magnitude next year, I may join the fun. Pray for me.

Those are VERY sour grapes speaking, Louis. You can never make it to a spur-of-the-moment cross country dash, as you have helpfully documented below.

I said- In some ways, it is better to plan out a trip. In some ways.

A spur of the moment cross country dash is always reasonable for me as long as my wife doesnt find out I'm doing it with BHPians. She has some very bad opinions.
according to her, you are the worst of the bunch. the corrupter of the innocent! the ringleader!

its good for me, because I have a ready made scapegoat.
You dont mind do you?
