sure! i shall continue plugging away for an overnighter, but my family does not travel well in the ghats, so no guarantees.

what about the new route without thekkady in it,that, I put up in my prev post?
shall we all agree on that, provided there are no errors in it?

BTW splitting up into two groups is the best option.
you dont end up dragging the unenthusiastic half around on the second day, and the enthu bunch dont have to cut short their festivities on the 1st day itself.

The best option would be to come up with a very good route with good drives, plenty of scenery for people to soak up, good pit-stops planned out for the breaks and a good place to crash for the evening.

Make people WANT to come on the trip.

Hi Steer,

The better option would be to continue to the end of the Cherthala byepass, take the U and go towards the town, reach the main junction where the road curves to the left, take a right, go past the bus station and continue on wards towards Thanneermukkam bund and onwards to Kumarakom.

This way they save the journey through the Cherthala town.

Thanks, both of you.

Absolutely NOT!

Cherthala town to Kottayam was EXACTLY 31 kms - I traveled THRICE down that road over the last three weeks Ekm - Cherthala- Kottayam was only 61KMs!! (from Vytilla Jn to Thirunakkara Temple)

This will be more like 15 tops!

EDIT: - Sriram - I might just join you if time permits!

Bring it on! Bring it on!
More the merrier. I'll bring my family and kids along if others are in with their families. Don't worry about the families getting bored and all. I've one verrry silent wife and 2 kids who make up for it.

I couldn't get in touch with anybody today over the phone. Actually, I couldn't find enough time to make calls. And all should be sleeping there now. Will do it tomorrow.

Carmelia haven seems to have only 25 rooms ( from Steeroid's link ) and the Honeymoon Cottage looks to be one of the cheapest
Shouldnt that be one of the most expensive?

Hey rippergeo, fix up the route first and let it be final. We can avoid thekady in the first place. Then let us think about the camp.If its kuttikanam i can help in arranging the stay at 2 nearby places.

Let us plan out an overnighter instead of planning for an either/or scenario which usually results in neither/nor.

There will be enough interest (based on previous experiences) and we have taken family along to our previous drives (Rumble in the Jungle and Monsoon Meyham), so there's nothing new there either.

Get the route agreed upon, make a detailed plan and lets roll with it.

the route is being finalised.
if you go through the thread, you can see the number of options available to us, and you will also get a general idea of where we will be traveling.

it will have more than enough hairpins and smooth roads for everyone.
final decision will be made after accomodation has been fixed.
zak is on the case.

at the moment, plans are being made for an overnighter.even though its unlikely that I'll be there on the 2nd day.

1.thekkady has been deleted from the itinerary
2.munnar will be one of the destinations.
3.the climb from moolamattom upto kulamavu will also be included in the route.

these are the only definite details at the moment.
give us 2-3 days to sort it out.
rest assured, all the roads in this area are wonderful to drive on at the moment. we just have to hope that 2 weeks of rains wont screw that up.

in the meantime can we have a headcount? again!

Hi kb100,

Thanks for correcting. Sorry folks for the wrong information.

That is a route I usually don't take. I should not have tried answering to start with.
