Maruti Rally, chennai - June 1st 2008

I heared from my friend that maruti is organising a rally for all maruti car owners this weekend in chennai. I do not have much details regarding this, but what my friend told me was that there was no need to register and one can jus come in and join.

The venue is Le Meridien I think. There are no registration fees, and the only condition is that you must have a Maruti vehicle(I guess it need not be owned by you) and it must have a working speedo and odometer since the winner is the one who covers all the spots in shortest distance. You can bring in your family (Max people allowed in a car is as per the RC book entry) and winners take away big prizes like Home AC etc.

I guess there are 3 caetogries. Normal,senior citizen and ladies. The best thing is that there will be a fun event in Le meridien after the rally followed by a free buffet for all participants along with family cheers:. And after the event they give you a voucher for Rs500/- to fill fuel for the car at selected petrol pumps

At least it was like that last year. Dont know what all changes they made for this year. I am not able to gather further details at the moment. If I come to know of the detials will post them here.

So C-BHPians get hold of a Maruti car and let's go rallying this weekend!!!!

My friend has a neighbour who works in Khivraj mount road. He was the same person who informed us last year too. If anyone can enquire about it in Khivraj, will be great.

But I feel all maruti showroom will should have the details.

Hehe. But they give it only at the end of the rally. They gave it last year. Have to wait and see if they give it this year too

Ha ha they actually give this because anyways u have to spend your fuel to participate in the rally just to compensate that. But I really admire and sppreciate Maruti in this effort. Great thing

I saw a couple of Altos and the like with number stickers on them near Le Meridien on the way back from MMSC yesterday. Was hoping to run into one of the bhp-ians.

I had been there. But sadly didnt win any prize

. The event was good fun. I think there were around 100-110 cars participating. The event started around 8am and cars were flagged off at 1min interval.

Were given a snack box, and a pepsi pet bottle and some random gifts like Milton water bottles,lunch packs and clocks. The event was to identify the places that match the clues given and then decide in which order we have to hit checkpoints. The winner will be the one who covers all the checkpoints in the shortes KMs(and the time taken). Also had to fil up a Quiz form on basic rules, proper vehicle opreration, maintanance shcedules. There was also a "find the maruti models" in a grid of alphabets. All the scores were considered to choose the winners(we were told).

Once the rally was over, submitted the quiz and distance sheet. They gave a Fuel coupon for 5Litrs and asked us to come back in the evening by 6'0 clock.

Evening there were some games/events involving family and kids (was a bit boring though) and finally announced the Prizes. Scores were not put up. They just announced the winners.
3rd Place - Microwave oven
2nd Place - 29" Flatron TV
1st Place - A split home Aircon.

Then had the buffet there. The menu was basic but the food was good.(earlier they said only 4 members/car will be allowed for buffet, but no one bothered to check and there was a huge crowd). All in all a good event considering that all they required was just participation.
