Hyderabad July 2008 - Monsoon D R I V E on 06/07/08, Now updated with Pics

Lets have a Mansoon drive guys.

(I apologize for putting it up a bit late)

As the name suggests its just a drive, I re-iterate, we are going only for a drive there is no specific place or destination. All I can say is we will be taking a diversion from the Nagarjuna Sagar Road around 12 km after crossing Ibrahimpatnam.

Description of the D R I V E:( I am also including some pictures to give you all how the things could be.)
We would be driving on the Sagar road for around 40km:

After crossing Ibrahimpatnam, we can stop by a restaurant so that we can fill our stomachs then few km later we will be going via a village known as Gungal; after around 6 km we will going through a place known as "Ranagapuram". For the less known people there is a Space Observatory (those white dome which house the reflective type of telescopes)

a closer view:

Immediately after this place, we will be entering the Valley!!!! yes a Valley. And through out the road going through will be between mountain on either sides of the roads and paddy fields, a place some thing one has to experience, it cant be expressed by words or pictures.

A sample pic: (this how the entire 40 km stretch would be like)

At the end of this stretch would be some rock creations:

After that we head towards Sagar Road and meet the Nagarjuna Sagar Road at a further point known as Maal, there we can refill our stomachs and head back, The total distance covered would be around 150 - 180 km.

Date: 29th June 2008. (EDIT: now changed to 6th july)

Time: 8:00 AM
Meeting point: GENPACT, Uppal.
Time of return: 4:00 PM.

PS1: I know this is a short notice, but I am sure we can pull it off big time.

PS2: depending on the time we can think about exploring various place we will be encountering. There are many places worth exploring there.

PS3: The road going through the villages are not great roads where you can think of ripping, instead that place where you enjoy the nature. I think this is one of a kind in this part of the state. We can do 50 to 60 kmph constantly on these roads. There are some more pictures of the curvy road, I would like to share, but at a later time.

PS4: This is the wikimapia location of the space observatory:
http://wikimapia.org/#lat=17.0960235&lon=78.7178564&z=16&l=0&m=a&v=2
You can zoom out by two levels and pan along the road towards the bottom right i.e. towards South East you would understand the road and the terrain. Any doubt put it here or call me. For the people who don't have my number, pm me along with your number and name, i will reply with my name and number.

Maybe we should push this to next weekend for following reasons -

1. Too many dropouts
2. No Monsoon yet :-)

What say?

What are you folks Tal-king??? we had a rain yesterday night. There was one day before yesterday in Madhapur. Its just the begining. The mansoon is just arriving.

I was waiting for the rain before posting the thread, when I saw the rain clouds yesterday in the evening, I posted the thread in the night.

Atleast the climate has become mansoon type

I am in for it. Its even better that there is no destination. After all its drive that matters. Best part is that we can expect monsoon type cloudy weather without actually having rains, what more does one want?

Can we have a list of interested members? That would help us out in knowing how many are actually going. Before its mentioned, i know that we will have some dropouts post confirmation but at least lets get a headcount of who's willing to go at this point of time. Starting with Raj of course :-)

for the people, who are not ready to come this time, I am ready to go to that place again with you folks. Anybody ready for making this drive twice(it would become thrice for me). I wish one of us had convertible or atleast an open top jeep. That would be a great way to enjoy the nature.
