Kolkata T-Bhp Meet August 08

Hi All,

How has it been since the dive in the ocean.

Well, i've been pondering over this idea for quite a while and now am putting it for further discussion.

We have had fantastic meets till date. We have grown in nos. All of us love our cars for their this & that etc. etc. etc... Since all the time we are in the city and our cars become commuting boxes as per the thread started by Sabret00the. All we have done till date in our previous meets is cruise in a straight line.

So what i want to ask is wouldn't it be nice if we went for a good drive. Somewhere when we can test the dynamic capabilities of our beloved machines we always talk about.

Definitely the question keeps on coming to my mind that do we have the roads for such a dynamic test? Needn't be a very long drive, but something that will make us admire our cars even more. And obviously good adda, khana & pina are a compulsion.

How many of us are interested in something like this? How many of us will be in kolkata say around 24th or 31st.

Regards
NOS

Hmmmm. I'm game for a dynamic test. If outside the city, someone will have to drive a truck with the 97 stuff to feed my ride buss! Tell me the time and place!

There is an awesome stretch to an abandoned airfield in Shantiniketan, its about 100 odd kms from the so called " German Dhaba" you have to take left and follow the road, I am not very sure, I have to dig up my old travelogues and find out the exact route. You can really set your cars lose there and plus the approaching road has a "few" beautiful curves.

may be an option ?

Ok

After rattling my brains a little more - this is what I could finally come to - Short before entering Shantiniketan you come to a congested round about, if you carry on straight you go to Shantiniketan, right ? At this same round about there is another road going to the left, you have to take this for approximately 100 odd kms, just follow this road. In between you will come across a coal field where you need to go left. Thats all I can think of now, I am attaching a few snaps of the place.

NosPower - Hmm...closer to Kolkata, that is actually the closest I can actually think off, I mean you can always go to Bokkhali and drive on the beach et al. But then to really let your beasts lose, this is the closest I think. Lets see what idea the others have to offer

Hmm...The behala airfield does not look bad. Do you guys think you can go and talk to the folks to have it arranged ? You guys can have a few drags (with proper precaution, please!). Or I would actually suggest a "slightly" longer drive. I mean, you really have to see what you want to do, just go to a place and stomp the throttle, or enjoy a drive and then come to a place where you can do some "choto lok" circus.

Whatever you do, pictures are a must ! Its already the 11th of august, and the time is running so decide boys !
