The most effective way would be to collect some advance money from members once we reach Chandan's place and are planning for lunch/evening barbecue etc.

If the recee is what you are referring to, then there is a change of plan. Will be doing the recee next sunday and not this one.
However, there is a camping + OTR this Saturday/Sunday@ Soligere and I am tempted to go. Not decided as yet.

I think you need D-Rings, not D-Shackles on the Jeep.

Yes. That's the place. You should get D-shackles/rings also.

Sree, when are you planning to go there? Can you pick an extra set for me as well (A nylon/canvas tow rope + 4 D-shackles of 10/12mm)? I will pay you 'Jab we Met' + a can of beer for your effort

They will look like this.

Shahnawaz, the D-Shackles I have are permanently connected to the tow ropes. This is the first time I am seeing the D-Shackles on the Jeep. I am looking for D-rings for my Jeep, very hard to find though.

Hi Sree,

I am attaching the list of items that i am currently shopping for... Tool-Kit for Jeep.pdf

Please feel free to add anything that i might have missed. I am planning to get a custom made tow rope (steel rope crimped on both sides) and would also like to buy the nylon tow rope (as backup).

Apart from this you should also carry few spares:
1. Fan belt
2. Radiator hoses (top & bottom hoses)
3. Clutch cables
4. Bulbs for Headlight

Cheers!

. but didn't Shekhar give you his 2000000 ton steel tow rope to you along with the MM 540? That tow rope could possibly be used to tow a 20 wheel/axle truck from axle deep slush .

Man. it needed 3 people to even lift that tow rope. :-)

You are right. The D-Shackles would be part of the two-rope. Now one can
  • Fix the shackle on the hook on the jeep/4x4 for pulling
  • OR, use a D-Ring 'as an adapter' to put it between the tow rope shackle and the jeep/4x4 hook
In Gypsy's, the tow hook welded to the chassis is slightly small and at times the big shackles get kind of locked in it and it is a real pain to get them out. (I have personally experienced it in several OTR's)

The D-Rings help in those scenarios.
