As of now, the youngest of the lot will be me! Until Mihiran is confirmed! Aadix & Sagar, try to join and diversify the demographics!

Dont worry about the age part. Everyone is young ( atleast in their mind)

There's no POA, It's just enjoy the drive, fun and frolic at the beaches, spend one evening for a meet with other Goa tbhpian's, party hard till wee hours and explore places of interest if time permits. Sounds good?

Which route will we take?

Dudes,

It's probably a good time to discuss the route we will take to Goa. After going through the old Hyderabad-Goa travelogues, I feel that the options are:
  1. Route#1: Hyd-Sholapur-Kohlapur-Sankeshwar-Amboli ghat-Goa
  2. Route#2: Hyd-Gulbarga-Bijapur-Sankeshwar-Amboli ghat-Goa
  3. Route#3: Hyd-Mahabubnagar-Raichur-Koppal-Hubli-Karwar-Goa
  4. Route#4: Hyd-Mahabubnagar-Raichur-Bagalkot-Belgaum-Amboli ghat-Goa
Going via Londa-Ponda is an alternative to going via Amboli ghat when going from Belgaum to Goa. Similarly, going via Gandhinglaj is an alternative to going via Belgaum when going from Sankeshwar to Amboli ghat.

Route#1 is probably the longest and Route#4 is the shortest, but the difference may not be more than 100 KM. So, I would think the preference would be for the route with better roads and better sights.

Does any one have the latest on these routes??

Nag, there's an update from Pontiac on route # 4 in the post below, and it seems to be recent.

I recommend taking different routes to enjoy the beauty of both states ( Maharastra and Karnataka). So,

Route 1 : While going towards goa but we should take Gandhinglaj route as soon as you take the exit from NH4 ( its slightly rough road but improves later on). Its slightly longer but beautiful roads and scenary all through. Btw, no way we are going to take the Londa-Ponda route, in monsoons they would be like craters on moon.

Route 4: While coming back since it is much shorter and we got a recent update that these roads are good.
Some teasers of Goa and what's in store for you during monsoons

We plan to stay in either of the following hotels in North Goa, about 0.5km from Calangute Beach

Molly's Malone
Paradise Village Resort
Osbourne Resort

We choose the the last two if we need a swimming pool.

There is no plan for guys coming in via. Plane. They plan their flights on their own and join us at whichever hotel we are putting up in.

Just be mentally prepared that for those 3 days, you ain't gonna sleep for more than 4 hours a day

Since i see you seem interested, i hope your joining us !!! If yes, plan plan plan well in advance and keep us posted if your thinking of coming by airplane. Btw, been to goa a few times by plane, its plain boring..heheh

Cheers !!!!

Avi, you are tempting me to post some pics here which will result in an instant ban for my ID! (Refrain! Refrain! to self!)

This is a Drive meet! Planes are only welcome if you are in the cockpit!

You guys should try looking into this place called Sonic Guest house. It is on Anjuna beach (literally) - between the beach and Club Paradiso.

Stayed there during New Years, and couldn't have asked for more in terms of location and view. The rates are pretty low as well.

Cant help you out with the phone number since I don't have it.

But here is a view from the balcony right outside the room. Red circle shows where the place is roughly.

Room rates* were about Rs 700 for regular (no tv) and about Rs 950 for the deluxe (they have only 2 deluxe rooms)

*Rates were from New Years time and probably were hiked up 40%-60%

One and half down.

We just got our school diary today. I opened it with some anxiety to check the said dates in July. The good news was that there were no ejjams on either 23 or 24th.

The bad news is that our mid-term exams start from 27th. That anxiety was not unfounded after all! I quickly shut the diary and put it away, lest some other nasty creepy crawlies jump out at me. Perhaps, today is not a good day to read the panchangam (diary).

I therefore confirm with a heavy heart that Mihiran and I will not be joining you guys on the Hyd-Goa drive in July. We wish you have a great trip and look forward to seeing the pics here (and offline) but, most of all we eagerly look forward to listening to the normally hilarious accounts of the teams escapades and adventures.

Cheers,
