Dear All Hyderabad TBHPian's,

It all started roughly about 2 years ago when meets meants a handful of people meeting at some open area, park the car and restrict our discussion to just automobiles. But,over the last year, Hyderabad meets have taken a lot of interesting twists and turns and we've had all kinds of them (Rock Music, Dinner,Drive,Lunch,Movie,Anniversary,Impromptu,wha tnot etc) and each one was better than the previous and no kidding !!!

So some of us thought of elevating this to a totally different level and have decided what better than carry our fun loving, exeburant body and soul to a once in a life time mega meet " Drive to Goa"

After a lot of deliberations, we have honed down the dates to July 23rd weekend, since we don't have any long weekends until Sep'09.

So plan is to start on July 23rd at 4:00AM to Goa and return back to Hyderabad latest by July 26th 12 Midnight.

Since this trip requires a little more planning than usual. It would be much appreciated if folks who are interested to join the fun-loving bandwagon confirms latest by June 30th,2009 since we need to decided how many cars to take along, book hotel etc and will be a well-regulated trip in terms of expense which will be completely designed on "Dutch System"

Look forward to a healthy participation so we can have a great grand gala of a time with Goa blooming in flowers, monsoon dripping lovely drops of rain turning the trees into lush green coloured, heavenly landscapes that transform into a sight to behold which will make our drive to this destination a blissful,joyful and exhilarating experience (borrowed the adjectives from Abysnthguzzler's Granpa who happens to be an awesome orator)

I'd put the August dates, as planned earlier, in the vacation list, and now updated to these new dates. I was told by an onsite resource that one of my major projects is going live on July 18th, so if that gets delayed by a week, I'd be in a tight spot.

Sorry to add to the confusion (Cant help the 'Desi' Ungli Karne Ki Aadat) but i thought i might give everyone here a quick update.

Jet Airways has started its Konnect Flights from Hyd to Goa for as less as INR3833 Return (Incl taxes,psf etc) Per Person.

Timings -
Dep Hyd 13:00 Arr Goa 14:45
Dep Goa 15:25 Arr Hyd 17:10

I know this is supposed to be a 'Drive' drive but for more participation from the lazy folks (folks driving please ignore this), they might want to consider this option.

Jokes apart, for guys who cannot take the time out on Thursday, it's a good option if you join in Goa directly on Fri/Saturday. So let those grey cells work in overtime...LOL

I am thinking about taking halfday leave on Firday and a full leave on Saturday(my boss would not be angry)!!!

That would be 2 modes still left. Water and Air. So you will cover the air-part for this trip. You can probably try the water mode when we make our next tbhp trip to visit the jail at Andaman and Nicobar

You know pandey the fly wala idea by theo makes more sense.

would help save a good 1200km of drive (to and fro) ..

we can invest the time saved and doing dhamaal at that irish joint you were talking about.

we can give any future drive meets a pause till july 23rd and that should help make way for the flight tickets( its 4k return)

in all likelyhood i would want to fly as well ( not sitting next to kirkiri though) lol.. just kidding.

Some basic arithmetic:

1 car= Transport for 3-4 people
Return Fare for 3= 12k Rs
Return Fare for 4= 16k Rs

So as long as it costs less than the above to take a car to Goa and back (Assuming that wear n tear, toll taxes, and the additional time spent is negligible), we should drive.

Gives us a way to move around in goa as well, and not on 2 rented wheels either. You will know the value of that when we run outta smokes n cokes at 2 o clock in the night:P

Total Fuel Consumption - 115 Liters Approx
Petrol Rate - INR 46.00/L
Petrol Expense - INR 5200 Per Car
Diesel Rate - INR 36.00/L
Diesel Expense - INR 4100 per Car

Divide the above by at least 3. And of course if you are taking a 7-8 Seater then even less . FE will vary of course.

I'm sure Himanshu's Truck will give an FE of at least 15 kmpl (10 kms by the car itself and 5 km you guys can push to the nearest workshop the next time it breaks down)

P.S - I have no clue on the rate of Diesel so put in INR 36.00/L.

Of course dont forget to add the Taxi/Bus Fare for To & Fro to Hyd/Goa Airport.
