Drive + Picnic on 27 Sept

4 pages in 3 weeks for a thread dedicated to 2 months of meets and drives, the Hydeez are slacking, pull your socks up guys, it is time to start rocking in the true Hydeez spirit.

Some of the more restless ones who were getting withdrawal symptoms have suggested that we get the ball rolling by having a drive + picnic the coming Sunday i.e. 27 September 2009. The date is fixed for two reasons (1) it is a long weekend and the Deccan Quartermile Drag is scheduled for the next weekend, (2) Hyderabad's livewire & resident of TBHP meets section, yes, our own Rajesh Rawal is moving to Chennai the next weekend so this will be his last meet/drive with the Hydeez for a bit.

POA:

Date: Sunday, 27 Septemeber 2009

Time: 09.00 hrs HST or 09.30 hrs IST

Meeting point: BHEL gate, Ramchandrapuram

Destination: Reserve forest just short of Bidar (see pics in the July-Aug meets thread)

Side trip (for those interested): Darshan at the Gurudwara in Bidar

Programme: An old fashioned picnic after a non-stop drive to the picnic spot (about 1 hr 30 min).

Please carry packed food, water and other consumables. Dhurries, jampkhanas paper plates, napkins and glasses would be nice too. Outdoor games stuff will be welcomed.

Confirmed list:

1. Rajesh Rawal (Well he better come as this drive is in his honour)
2. Himanshu Goswami (Principal instigator)
3. Hillram (He is still wondering which of his steeds most needs the outing)
4. Mobike008 (Thanks for taking the time out for us in the middle of the Dusserah festivities)
5. Zen91
6. Pulsar56
7. Vnabhi (raring for another good drive in his Fiesta)
8. Kkr2kr (Anna you better land up before we issue a missing person report)
9. Absynthguzzler (You can sit with your back to the tower so you are not reminded of your work)
10. Suren181 (What would we do without you?)
11. Ravveendrra (Time to check the performance and FE of the Tank with the Pete's switched off)
12. Fordmanchu
13. Discobiscuit
14. Aadix
15. Furioussphinx (your GP deserves this)
16. GetSurya (Will someone send out a searchparty for the original rocker)
17. Nagvasireddy (I know that is neither Goa nor Konaseema - but we been missing you for too long)
18. MileCruncher (Time to give us a preview of your new ride)

Keep adding guys .....

Cheers,

i shall be at BHEL at 930 AM on Sunday with wife and kid.

I will carry some parathas and achaar and a couple of durries along with water/coke etc.

I plan to go to the Gurudwara and I think the other confirmed names for the Gurudwara are HRH RR, Ravvs and Avi.

I am tentative since Sunday is Naumi Pooja ( 9th day) of Navratri and it's a huge affair at home.

Depending on situation, will confirm later on.

Count me out, unless I abandon my planned trip from Saturday to Thursday. Chances of the long trip are very high at the moment.
Enjoy yourselves, guys. Had I come, I'd certainly have visited the Gurudwara.

That's sad. Hope she recovers quickly

I can see the enthusiasm for drives has drastically reduced for many. May I ask why? Moolah? Time? Interest?

Anyways, let us plan a big bang come back drive in Oct, i recommend a date of Oct 25th for this drive since the previous Sunday i beileve is Diwali.

How about a drive to Srisailam and check out the forests and come back the same day? It means two things :-

1. Take help from Fazal Bhai who knows that territory like the back of his hand.

2. Start pretty early. Late risers, please don't confirm you name

What are your thoughts guys?

Looks good to me---I'm game for this.
BTW, this may be a bit OT, but I wanted inputs from you guys on the eating joints from Hyd to Hampi. We plan to leave early morning tomorrow (perhaps 7 am owing to kids) .

We plan to go to Jog Falls on day 3, and then halt at Sirsi for the night. We then plan to go to Goa via Yellapur, Ankola and Karwar, stay for a day, and then return via Bijapur as we wanna see Gol Gumbaz.
Yes, we are killing many a bird with a single stone.

I've already got an update on roads on most stretches, but need the following info:-
  1. Eating joints on the way to Hampi.
  2. Road condition from Hyd to Hospet---we are going via Mehbubnagar, Raichur and Sindnur. Brajesh said that the outskirts of Raichur were bad about 6 months back
  3. A good place to stay at Hospet and also at N. Goa and at Bijapur--not too costly please. Phone numbers will also help.
Thanks guys.

Aww poor thing. Take care of her and before you know it she would have recovered and be full of beans (much before you can even catch your breath).

Cheers,
