But I thought (and heard also) Id is on the 11th. Won't evenings next week wear a similarly festive look in Old City?

Folks from office were planning a Haleem meet at Old City for today evening but that had to be pushed out. It's scheduled for Wednesday night now. Despite being born and brought up in Hyderabad (technically Secunderabad) this will be only the second time in my life that I'll be seeing the Charminar .

This reminds me of a bike ride 4 of us had from Bengaluru to Kundapura and back. 2 of the 4 (including yours truly) are vegetarian.

The reason for the ride was that the other two wanted to have butter chicken at Shetty's Lunch Home (extremely famous joint) in Kundapura. So off we went on a Saturday morning and got back home the next night . Us veggies had some veggie food of course.

Regards,
spadix

Great escapade spadix. 400+ kms bike journey.

Reminds me of my old memories.Chicken Ghee Roast and Kane fry served at Shetty's Lunch home is the best.

Betw:Shetty's Lunch home has a branch in Mangalore called Anupam and a branch in Bangalore as well. The Bangalore branch is known as Coastal Express.

Shetty's Lunch Home brought back so many fond and not so fond memories. I actually had to forego Chicken Ghee Roast on my recent trip to Manipal & Om Beach

900+ actually (to and fro). It was in January 2006. Lovely weather, lovely roads (on the way back). It was one of my best bike rides ever. What topped it off was those few minutes of solitude at Maravanthe beach.

Sorry I meant chicken ghee roast and not butter chicken as I wrote earlier. Anyway, I'm the vegetarian so I'm automatically excused for getting it wrong .

This is the first time I'm hearing of these. I should let those blokes know. They'll still do the "Chicken Run" (that's what we called it) though .

@Rahul: That's the spirit! But I agree that replicating that same spirit in a 40-km city trip with all the attendant traffic woes isn't exactly fun.

Regards,
spadix
