i used to stay at Maitree Vihar - very near to XIMB/Satyam. Odhiya is quite easy to learn prvided you follow each word carefully. People do understand Hindi / English in BBSR.

I've still not figured out to speak hindi conversationally
can understand/speak a few words with messed up grammar/structure, and its affecting me more. Plus, yeah, as you mentioned, most people do tend to understand hindi/english here

Welcome to Odisha - The land of Lord Jagannath. I am sure you will not find it too difficult to converse. People in Odisha, especially in BBSR, are cosmo in nature and can talk in various languages including telugu in some cases.

Local transport system has quite developed over last 5 years and finding an auto should not be a problem. But as you mentioned, your folks in XIMB would be the best bet (i guess you would be having inheritaed bikes from seniors - not sure though). Rest its easy going life in BBSR.

Let me know in case you have anything specific of interest, where i could help you.

just when i was thinking about this. I am from Orissa though have been living in blore/bombay for the last 8 years (studies then job). Right now am on a break, so keep spending some time at home. The family home is in Cuttack, though I have lived in Bhubaneswar and Dhenkanal for long periods. Thats for an introduction

I am mostly in Dhenkanal and Cuttack this and the next month and can easily drive down to Bhubaneswar.

Lets meet.

Came across news of H1N1 in BBSR. It seems I have to cancel/postpone my trip to BBSR. Can anybody from BBSR confirm about the severity please ?

You never find a good mechanic (indepandent) in BBSR.
if you found one...then they are lack of tools etc..
IMHO, you should go for the ASC. In BBSR i always prefer ASC against the indepandent Garage.
