Hi brraj,

I was also thinking of driving to this place, inspired by http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...n-niagara.html

But, my plans took a bit of a beating on finding out that the distance from Bangalore is about 500 kms! Do you have any information on the condition of the roads? You plan to cover this distance in 9 hrs including breaks, that is an average speed of 60 km/hr assuming only 1 hr of break! Appears like the road is quite good all through! Finalized the route?

Keep me posted on your plans though! who knows, might make up my mind in the last minute!

These two places are somewhat near by :

Cherai Beach : Cherai Beach - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chimmini Dam and Wildlife Sanctuary - Chimmini, Thrissur district

If planning to a stay around Athirappilly falls, you might want to check out R i v e r o k V i l l a s -A Family Resort Hotel, Kerala, India or Home Page - Rainforest Boutique Resort, Athirapally, Chalakudy, Kerala, the former being light on wallet.

Have a safe and great drive guys!

The best route from Bangalore to Arthirapalli is via Salem (NH7) till Avinashi (NH47). Turn off at Avinashi, and go via Tiruppur and Palladam to Pollachi. From Pollachi, go via Valparai to Athirapalli.

You can return the other way. Athirapalli-Chalakudy-Trissur-Palakkad-Coimbatore-Salem.

Distance comparisons:

Bangalore-Salem 200 kms-Avinashi 110-Tiruppur 10-Palladam 15-POllachi 50-Valparai 65-Athirapalli 80, totalling 530

Athirapalli-Chalakudy 35-Trissur 20-Palakkad 50-Coimbatore 40-Avinashi 40-Salem 110-Bangalore 200, totalling 495

Cool!

Keep me posted, Raj. Might join the drive with family.

Suggestion: Why not start early around 5am? We might get to cover better distance and beat the traffic. What say?
