Thanks for the info Gautam, this will give me a project to work at!
While I do have a bicycle, my current fitness levels will ensure maximum one way trip from SNDT to Deccan, and that too as it is a slope. Leh sounds exciting, perhaps next year if they go again.
There is also a Pune cycling group, though I havent stayed up to date on their activities.
A bit , but if anyone knows of a pre worshipped hatchback looking for a new home in Pune, please let me know! Due to some reasons, the new purchase has been delayed a bit
It will ensure one more attendee for the next meet

Great , you know something ? Pune is cooler than Mahab. in those days . If you are comparing it to Baramati then Ok . ( No offence to Punaits , Mahaits & Baramatikars )

Secondly the crowd & Rush will be like the ' Ganpati Viserjan ' of Pune .

they say Pachgani & Mahableshwar Parking is at Wai , on national holidays

Think Think Think , this is perfect suicide plan , find something else .

Can we consider going to Dhom dam or somewhere around that area? I have been told there are some places with water sports etc. It could be quick enough for a day trip. those who want to risk going further up could do that after the meet.

+1 to that. I think we can think of some other place. Sorry off hand cannot think of any options. But would do some research. I don't want to go to a place and then roam around searching for place to park. That is frustrating Considering we would be having atleast 10 cars in our cavalcade finding a place to park together would be a task.

@Reinhard - Goa in April??? Why is that?

Went through the thread. I feel the meets have become only stronger over time.

Well..if we are planning a Half day trip again, We could go to Bhatghar Dam,
the road is good and the scenes as well..only problem is they dont allow people inside the dam..last time we got to go in because a politician was in our group
The other option could be the Ambi Valley route..and we have so many good eateries and the roads are good as well

@AP, Mahabaleshware seems to be difficult as said above, traffic problem will start from Toll naka and parking problem from Wai.

Guys, think about options, Bhatghar Dam seems to be fine however permission and lunch will be problem as there are no good hotels.

If we plan for whole day, how about Kass/Bamnoli/Sajangad near Satara? Roads are good, less traffic, my home town.

Thanks,
Vishal

re: ext Tapri meet in Pune - 8th May Drive & Lunch Meet: Mulshi

OK , few points to consider- in general , not destination specific . ( keeping in mind that we are with 'family' )

1) weather : these days its cooler only till 10 am ( even on hill stations ) so we need a spot where we can reach to some shaded/ tree covered /indoor destination before max 11 am .

so we spend time bet 10 to 4 in shade ( not in sun )

after 4 pm its ok to travel back home

2) Need to have spare time for vehicle failures ( puncture etc ) while travelling

3) groups of 5 cars each to be made , consisting of lead & trail car ( you can change positions ) but need to stay in Visible distance from each other , this helps in emergencies & also people don't get lost. The pack of car remains tight , no one is left behind . If one car has problem others stay .

4) A list needs to be maintained with Mo No.s & car No./ description 'with everyone ' Mavric did this , thank him .Head count / role call must be taken at critical spots

5) every car will have enough drinking water , 2 litr /person/ day Is bare minimum ( even if you stay in shade )

Dear all , these are steps which will provide basic security for the well being of our family members .

Lavasa was a good experience , the group remained together most of the times ,

Now about choice of places , I am thinking

Suggesting couple of places for uniqueness
1. Pemgiri - large banyan tree spread over 4 acres.
2. Nighok - river potholes(?!)
3. kotul - inverted salt columns

All these places are on Pune-Nasik sector though I not sure of the distances or availability of shaded area/parking - I guess with summer approaching, this would be a standard problem.
