I always boasted about this engine's capacity to wade through hip-high floods. The other day, there was a school van ahead of me and the water level was tyre high. I followed the van and no sooner than it cleared the waters there was a wave of water rushing down from the curvy subway back on to the bonnet. This surge of water killed the engine and water started seeping in destroying the speakers on all four doors and luckily I could save my guitar and laptop before the water level rose. The car was already in the middle of the subway where the water level was rising due to springs from the wall and then the water pump in the subway was not working too.

The previous night a Scorpio was caught there too, but then the water levels were too high in the night when it was still pouring, the onlookers commented

The estimation comes close to a lakh and the insurance cover comes to 70k.The music system, seat covers etc would add up to another few grands I guess

My car is back after more than a month of sojourn in MSM. Had to meet the mechanics, Insurance rep, Works Manager and finally had to call Maruti's grievance cell to get my vehicle back. The quality of service is BAD. At 2nd gear the vehicle toys to keep up with share autos too cos of want of pick up. Additionally the service folks have dented both doors on the right side and also handicapped the Central locking. 54k was the bill with 23k from the insurance..................

Now, back to OUR TAMBARAM part. KADAPERI is one of the most buzzling space for automotive spare parts, painting and modification. Right from the Court complex opposite MEPZ till the area opposite the Bharat Petrol bunk, the space resembles a mini pudupet. As an auto enthusiast you have ample opportunity to rebuild or modify a car if the moolah is there to back your ideas....... please do comment on your experience at the Kadaperi space

Good to hear that your car is back to you safe and sound.
BTW, where did you give the car to service. In Tambaram or in Guindy??

I'm planning to get a gear lock installed in my new car. Any reliable accessories shops in and around Medavakkam?
Why would you want a gear lock in chennai?. Even if you want one I would advice going to some reputed dealer in the city rather than finding one in Medavakkam.

Re: Thread exclusively on Tambaram, residents please chip in.

Make the venue somewhere between Tambaram and Mount. My suggestion will be A2B at GST Road, Chromepet. Parking will not be an issue here, especially if we fix it up for late afternoon. Remember that some of the guys are residing closer to Guindy (Elantra-GT) than Tambaram.

I am free on 6th Feb as of now and will attend, unless something more important crops up. I am a part time social worker, and find time for this mainly during the weekends.

Please also visit the Chennai bhp meet thread. Something is cooking there for this week-end. It would be nicer if some of us can meet there as well.

My house is also near camp-rd junction. Though at present i live in Bangalore, my parents are still put-up in Selaiyur and i visit chennai like once a month normally.
I am planning another long weekend from Feb-12 to Feb-16 and if time permitting would be interested in a meet.

I second rock18. Morning would be better as people can continue with their daily/weekend tasks in the evening. Personally for me, I am going out of station on 6th afternoon and so would be better if the meeting is in the morning.

Am in for the meet on Feb 6. Is the Railway ground the same space where the Chief Minister had come a couple of months ago?
