Leh 2011 : Pillion / Another biker welcome

I am a lone biker, off to Leh in September 2011.

This is the long and short of my trip. Anyone interested in company... Pillion or on another bike/s.

Mumbai-Delhi- Rajdhani 02 Sept
Delhi-Chandigarh- 03 Sept
Chandigarh-Manali- O4 Sept
Manali-Rohtang-Sarchu 06 Sept
Sarchu-Tang-07Sept
Tang-Upshi-Leh- 08 Sept
If road issues-rain, weather, landslides, we reach Leh 09Sept
Bunch of local sightseeing. Acclimatisaion.
Solitude. Quiet. No Hurry.
If that depresses you, you can get off my bike and fly back too.

Leh-Drass- 16Sept
Drass-Srinagar-17 Sept
Srinagar-Jammu-20 Sept
Bike gets inward at Jammu station on the same day for loading on the 21st train.

21st Sept- Bike gets loaded onto Swaraj Exp, and one can fly back or take the same train.
Train ticket is like 1900, flight is for about 3500 as of now.

Am open to supporting a student who really wants to go. Good academic record is a must. I am SERIOUS.

No hell riders...

And I hate smokers (this is a new vicious craze I have developed.)

Hi KD.

Looks like you have an awesome trip planned out. Which bike do you plan to use for the journey?

If its a car trip, I would have joined you without a doubt buddy.

I had been to Leh last year. I strongly suggest not to carry any pillion. Its hard for you and pillion both.

Hmmm why not drive back to Delhi? I like the plan. I would be a student again by September 2011, and have a reasonably decent academic record. :P

But its too soon to be sure of the dates. It is still over 6 months off.

What bike do you plan to use?

PS: When does Rohtang close? Are you sure it will be open in Sept.?

The pillion is an extremely BAD idea. You don't want someone behind you who may not have spent enough time on the saddle (esp with you/on twisties) and may not trust you or your style enough.

That said, its perfectly fine on a well setup bike & a seasoned pillion to do Leh 2up.

As for company, far too many junta (bikers/cyclists/car guys) on the route. Make friends as you go!

@SUV - It closes in Mid Oct onwards depending on weather. 31 oct is when BRO mostly announces closure via hoardings. One has to book everything in advance so its all good.

Does an aggregate of around 75-80% qualify as good? If so, I am in

On a serious note, the dates don't seem to suite me, will have placement and stuff. A good opportunity missed
