Re: Suspension overhaul for Zen

Zen's suspension system is very tricky! I own a 2002 zen with 1.48 lac km on odo, the suspension was majorly overhauled at 80 k and 130 k with some minor tweaks here & there.

However, off-late, the suspension seems to have very soft. The rear set-up was never replaced so far, I feel there is a need for some part's replacement. Although, nowadays the car running is only about 300 km in a month, but we want it to remain in top notch condition.

It would be really helpful, if somebody can guide on complete parts required in full suspension set-up, both front & rear. Any of the MASS in our area are useless & not trustworthy anymore, so would like to get it done from outside.

Re: Suspension overhaul for Zen

Reviving an old thread for the benefit of other zen owners.

Just got work done on my 2002 suspension:

Replaced items with MGP parts as follows,
1)Lower Arms both
2)Ball Joints both
3)Tie ends both
4)Stabilizer bar bushes 6 nos
5)Rear Suspension Stopper both
6)Rear Suspension Rubber ring both.

MGP parts all were talbros make.
My previous parts were all rane, all ball joints etc had become very free and very dry.

For those who are looking to overhaul can buy talbros parts outside as there is price difference with mgp packed parts.

Re: Suspension overhaul for Zen

Update.

I had a bearing failure on my left front wheel on my trip back from jamshedpur to pune.

It started getting real noisy and at night was unbearable.

Changed it @ 1025 MGP, i took the new bearing to a bearing vendor, the same bearing is available outside for 700 plus taxes.
The MGP Bearing is SKF,while replacement bearing is Some other brand used by Volvo.
Also changed rear right bearing,SKF makes a set for maruti and i got it in Original skf packing for 462.00.consists of two bearing.
Post the change the car has gone silent.I also noticed that the front bearing which went bad was real tight and i assume it contributed to the drag i felt.
