btw found some useful info - How To Use A Circular Polisher - Car Polisher, Car Buffer, circular (rotary) polishers do emit more heat than a dual action (orbital) polisher

As RUDRA pointed out you have to be extremely careful . An angle polisher like this will very easily cause more swirl marks and damage paint.

Also the pads you have to use for detailing is different from the ones available in india. Since this is a spindle type polisher the chances of uneven pressure distribution is very high.

The best polisher for detailing is the "Cyclo dual head orbital polisher "
But it is costly. You can infact get very cheap "Random orbital polisher" especially made for detailing for as low as 25-30 $.

Atleast try to get the right pads for detailing. Try it out in an inconspicuous area first ,like the bottom of the back door . As you pointed out,use minimal pressure and keep moving, trying to keep the pad or foam as parallel to the surface as possible.

Found a guy who told me where to find dual action polishers(Porter Cable ones)

The Hyundai A.S.S. guys use the Norton MF cloth if you 'persuade' them to!(literally)

Yeah - they use the Norton and its really tough cause the abuse they put it through and it still goes on for about 2-3 months...that itself speaks a lot for the durability of the Norton cloth...

The branded Polishers available in the market are of Eastman and gB Tools, both Indian manufacturers. Sohail, the one you got seems to be Chinese.

Will hunt for the shop after my exams!

Porter Cable 7424XP(Dual Action Polisher) - Seems a very good polisher. But i have a feeling it might be quite costly. Do let us know when you get details.

talking about car waxes- dupont is supposedly the best when it comes to coating/paint sealants..now i saw these on amazon:
Dupont Car wax- liquid and spray
Wonder why are these not so popular-should be going by what dupont is known to provide otherwise for paint protection

Ive seen loads of empty DuPont protectant bottles at Hyundai A.S.S.!!
But they had a plain look + sticker(every professional 3M and DuPont product is like that for that matter)!

maybe they use them on the new cars!

the product in the link looks quite good!(visually appealing bottle design and sticker + its 'DuPont'!)
I think this might be worth a try!

btw I tried 'Formula1's Metallic Car polish' and it acted like a glaze! + it also coats and seals(i.e. polish and sealant in one)

The shine/wetlook/smoothness of the surface was really inspiring!
but I topped it of with wax anyways as I want sure about the competency of the polish's integrated sealant!

I'll try it on a relatively older car(my mom's) before any other praises! lol

bhai i dont know about results of over waxing but you are doing it more then required.

. Sohail, my car remained without any waxing or polishing for almost 3 years and it was just cleaned daily with a bucket of water.

thats probably a case of under waxing - i too had never waxed my car, ignorance more than anything else tho i did polish every 3 months but the polish i used was silicone based so had a waxing effect too..and almost 9 on 10 people i came across used to say- fantastic maintenance
However, waxing is essential, as i discovered and over waxing can have detrimental effects on the paint..i had read an article, misplaced the link...

Yesterday i happened to visit HOT TRACKS on Victoria Road. This was because of a separate thread on car mats:

Here i saw 3M Show Car Paste Wax and the guy jumped arrogantly and told me " Thats very expensive" when i picked it up. I said how much and he told me 4K!!! I was shocked and told him - how come? He said " we are the only people who sell 3M products etc"
I told him i can get the same for about 1000 rs in the US and he said- well that's the margin they make ...
I then asked his subordinate about 3M cloth and he told me its for Rs 800 and yellow cloth
I told that its sold for Rs 99 in SPAR and he just refused to agree.
I then told him to come and see it in my car and showed him the blue and the yellow cloths and told that none sells the blue cloth outside and i got as a sample from a friend

He said there is a different cloth for Rs 800 that they have been using at their detailing centers for 3M which still exists in Indiranagar!!!!

I was told by the 3M employee who is the sales manager for the 3M cloth that they DO NOT GIVE LICENSES to anyone for 3M detailing and its ONLY AT THE SERVICE CENTERS that proper 3M detailing can be taken. The rest as per him are " running in the 3M name" but are NOT PROPER
This store also had the 3M industrial CLEANER SPRAY what the 3M detailing centers use to clean cars

Its quite shocking that 3M products ARE BEING SOLD in the side channels and at ASTRONOMICAL prices- they are NOT TO BE SOLD IN RETAIL as per rules...
Places like this are charging 3-4 times the cost and are probably hand in glove with someone maybe in 3M or 3M guys are not aware of this racket going on?
Just think twice before buying anything from such places...though they look fancy.

OMG!! 4k!!!

We can get a Meguiars full car care kit for that much money!(which is much better too!)

And simply importing Meguiars MF cloth comes out to be cheaper too!

btw I need to prepare my i20 for the upcoming 'Hyundai Miles and Smiles' rally on 21st Feb

It has a few layers of wax already! guess I'll just use an instant detailer!
+ interior detailing!
